Ccincy: Obviously I would never advertise my social security number or checking account number on the interest but I see nothing wrong with discussing what kind of work I do or have done.I was a live-in childcare give in my teens to earn money to pay for my college education.Worked as an accountant for a while and then worked in two nursing homes. When I met and married my late hubby I quit working to become a stay at home mother. Now I am back into accounting again.
Talking bout ur job... only brings gold diggers towards u (men and women)
Da_Moose: An interesting perspective to say the least,....somebody lies ill, and the call goes out "is there a doctor in the house?" Well,...I guess some would not like to say they are. I am defined by what I do for a living,...and it is told by the fact it is LISTED in the phone book! I DO NOT CARE what people do in their PRIVATE life, but what they do for a living, may involve my business, my life,....so may I ask,...you do not believe in anyone wearing uniforms TELLING everyone what they do for a living? Granted, criminals like to keep what they do for a living somewhat secret....
It's not only criminals, many people that work for governmental agencies and so on... lawyers, judges, police officers (they need to keep their identity covert because it could be dangerous to be overt about it)... Don't tell nobody what u do for living unless u trust them if u r a teacher at school, social worker, or something that doesn't involve privacy, then go for it... but some people rather be private about their lives
Da_Moose: Hey Sandra,....no meanness intended,...I can see your point,...and respect it. Just saying that I am proud of what I do for a living and am not afraid to let anyone know,,,,,rather hard to hide the fact,....I wear a uniform! Nice to meet you!
Nice meeting u too, and don't worry... that wasn't anywhere near me u do have a point also, but u gotta be careful too when u tell someone what u do for living (don't let nobody know u r rich) specially if u work in a justice career (cuz everyone would wanna kill u then)

You mean Govt Servants ???? haha ...they dont tell anybody about thier Hidden income ,Atleast not in pakistan , they are getting rich every hour not every day
RainComeShine: Then what would be the point of most polls on here?
The comment that always gets me is 'I'm honest' which is just what the most dishonest person would say.
Oh dear, honesty is not a profession.
I'll reveal my suspicion at the end of the poll as it will, of course, be the one with the most votes.
On average, yes. But that depends on the level of power in someone's brain. Smart people, as in real smarts and not educated smarts, will know the bluffs and feints of the average person. Great liars won't claim to be honest because it makes him/her look like a liar. Socially savvy closet cases will probably express support for gay rights for similar reasons.
Powerful minds won't make the same mistakes as average minds although they make their own mistakes often from overestimating the other person's intelligence. The average person's bluff they see as the savvy person's double bluff.

Still, most people fit the generalisation that if they say "I'm an honest person" then they are probably not that honest a person. And clever people need to learn to expect and respect the stereotype and be as the average as the average(unless given a proper reason to be/think otherwise)to make life a lot easier.. Most people really are samey, average really is average, and the world really is a much brighter place when you're not too bright for it.

I took my kids to the dentist this afternoon. She mentioned that she was very honest and that my kids were too. I said we r all honest and told that we r sometimes too honest as we hurt peoples feelings. So u then say that we r the biggest liers then?

RainComeShine: I have a theory that most on here are prominently of one profession and it would be interesting to know if I'm right.

It was a bit cheeky really I thought we'd see more in construction related jobs but I think it was 'obstinance' who said they'd be people who are near their computer all day and I'm sure that has to be true.
Mostly finance related votes so far.
Obviously others use their phones but that won't work if they're using their hands for something else. It just needed a bit of common sense to work it out and sadly I'm lacking it would seem.

There are scammers everywhere not just on this site.Obviously people can be scammed in real life too.
I've got most of the world blocked out on here anyway.
If we all think about it that governments know more about their citizens then we think so I'm not to awfully worried about a scammer.
I know of several people on this site who have complained about being approached by scammers and have posted several threads topics regarding scammers but in the almost 5 yrs I've been here I've never had that experience. So I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones.
