chatonlyman2: For the last 2 and a half years I have been advocating to many the significance of the Ring Of fire. So far I am Right On. And I am not in the know.
Are we talking about the ring of fire as in ring of Jesus fire that's all around us... that they discussed in the movie 'Three Kings.'
YouMeUs: It looked a lot like the old log cabins we still have around here. Kinda cramped up inside but very homey feeling.
Did anyone ever determine the cause of the fire?
I read that there was an electrical fire that caused damage to one part of the upper section of the house and it has since been restored and is still standing. Are you sure the house was an old quaint log cabin because I think this is the house.

Well now I'm a bit confused. I think the house in that picture could be the one used in the film, where as the one I was in was a log cabin that had a brass plaque which claimed it to be the actual house Anne grew up in. There was also an old post office nearby supposedly being the original one that she frequented as well. It was undamaged by the fire.
I still have the VHS we took of the old house somewhere, though I lack the equipment to extract any images from it to post here.

And now I'm more confused than ever.
I'm not able to find any references of her living in a log cabin so we're gonna have to investigate this further.
Here's a link to locations in P.E.I. and Ontario where filming locations were and still no log cabin.

PEI is a beautiful place all in itself. If it wasn't for the harsh Winters I wouldn't hesitate to live there.
I'm just trying to recollect what the log cabin actually was, since it laid claim to exist within the Anne of Green Gables franchise. It was back in the 80's when I saw it while touring Eastern Canada. We got news of it burning down shortly afterward, I think while we were in Halifax.

Yep, I remember that fire well...was '97 I believe...I was preparing for an arrival down east then..when that happened.
What a gorgeous place to live
You are correct YouMeUs....the winters are very harsh there... I remember having to scrape our way out of a 3 story house rooftop one year...that was shovellin' The rest?? couldnt see no more.......snow was up to telephone poles then.
Funny, its been so long how on earth I could possibly remember that tidbit
Yup, I've been googling too and nothing comes back on it...yet.
Maybe it was all a dream! Maybe it was just my imagination! Maybe I've just stepped into...the Twilight Zone! *the eerie Twilight Zone theme song begins to play*
Now I may have to hunt up that VHS and get some answers...

yubba: . When you open the front page of CS you see what's happening, you can see the forum threads and then you click on one that looks interesting and you feel that you may have something decent to post to give others pleasure.
What actually happens is that you click on the post only to find that the OP is an absolute idiot and should not be on the site and should not be allowed to use a computer too.

Well I may be confusing that road trip with the others. Toured Canada multiple times, it's that big. Still haven't seen all I've wanted to, but at least I got to visit Nova Scotia which was one of my primary "wanna see" stops.
I can still remember that scent of ocean in the breeze like it was yesterday that I was there, so I know where you're coming from.
We'll get to the bottom of it...or the bottom of something while trying to sort it out.
I do recall that the location of the log cabin wasn't original, and that the cabin was moved there for preservation purposes. Tid bits are slowly returning...
No no log cabin..the décor inside maybe what gave YouMeUs that impression...as far as I can remember..it was just a house. Inside is where they remodeled etc..

Thanks for clearing that up Lillie even if it's a rather late response.

What I can remember is that it was a log cabin (exterior & interior) and somehow related to Anne. Maybe her school teacher's home? She was an orphan so parents are ruled out.

Length vs. girth
Ah, okay because otherwise people might think his name is duck and not diiiiiiiiiiiiick..... no point having length with a girth of a pencil.
