When I like someone I tend to go all out on the first date. I try to create a date that is unique and different from any other date that they have been on. I have been told that I sweet and I have also been told that it is not good to go all out on the first date. Whats your take.

I don´t really like a man to go to extremes on a first date... it feels a bit desperate to me and I feel put on the spot... I´d rather a picnic in a lovely spot or grab a beer somewhere with a pool table... it´s all about having time to talk and share a bit about ourselves with the other person...

For a first date I prefer something simple and low key, save the unique and creative for a celbration later on in the relationship. The thought is very sweet and some men would not put that much thought into a first date it's nice that you do.
jvaski: It seems to help if you spend alot of money for dinner at a fancy place the first time ........
That depends on the women you are going on the first date with. I don't let the guy pay for the first date we split the bill, regardless of how much or how little it is. The guy paying for everything is long gone, I appreciate when the offer is made and if I do accept I make certain to pick up the tab on our next night out.
Abo_Idol2009: what about a game of pool and watching the footy game
Depends if football is meant in the American way or the European way.
Any guy that calls football soccer should remain dateless for the rest of his life. A suitable punishment for incriminating the fine and bold sport that football is.

(and I don't mean the weird American one)
Have fun selling that concept around in Texas
Listen, Football rules! And soccer is okay.
You can go back to saying football (soccer) if you move back to sunny and warm Denmark...

I actually managed to create total silence at Thanks Giving for telling my roommate's family that American Football was for gays and sissies (Rugby on the other hand is a man's sport!).
But I'm just "that weird European girl", so the order was restored (and my neck was saved) when the Dad of the family proclaimed that it was yet another proof that women knew nothing about anything important and could I please pass him the beer.
Gotta love The Dad.
I miss the Danish weather actually. Texas has too much dry dust (if there ever was such a thing as wet dust..?).
Well if we´re talking about online first dates then good breath has to be the priority for me. Whatñs the point of being onn an exciting or creative date when you have to keep turning away each time he opens his mouth....eeeww!
Oh and just as important is that he resembles his profile and picture.

Living in Florida gives you a lot of choices on things to do. I like to walk and talk. The Zoo is lol, if it is a day time date. At night the animals come out. Take her dancing
First date I let her pick the place, the time, and everything else. Want her to feel completely comfortable. If she is comfortable, then we can really get to know each other. Jmo.

a creative first date would win some points for the men. and it would be plus if the guy has nice smelling breath too. lol. i wanted to pick 2 answers but too bad we could only pick one. so i chose the creative and unique first date.
I feel most comfortable if the date takes place where we were both into going to, say, a concert of music we're both into, or to see a gallery where art is shown we are both into.. or if all fails, a restaurant that sells food we are both into. That breaks the ice right away and we have things to talk about other than just ourselves..
And as mentioned before, I dont feel comfortable if the guy pays on a first date, especially so if its a fancy restaurant or expensive concert etc. The pricier, the more I'd insist paying halves/each their own.
If you want to show your creativity, why not bring along a creative little gift.. a card, a trinket, something that shows you have been paying attention to who I am and what I like..
That would be the ideal way for me..
(Great thread.- Its good to read all the different ideas on the subject.. gets a few misunderstandings out the way maybe..)
First date - meet and grab a six pack then out to the junkyard with a twenty pound sledge to do some windshields. Second date, dress up, do a bottle of wine then off to the funeral home to attend some strangers service.
Kidding aside, one of the best ones was when I met this gal and after coffee showed her a job I was doing. My buddy let her play with the excavator to rip a few holes in the ground.
i think its nice to do something different. it doesnt necessarily mean more money. nobody tries walks or picnics anymore. get creative people, dont just go with spending big to impress

Just make sure there is chemistry there first, before spending lots of money on a first date. I would prefer coffee, drinks or dinner as a first date. Maybe a creative and unique date for the second or third date.
