I never vote in them. They remind me of high school popularity contests. I thought it distasteful from adolescents and even more so from adults.

I used to hate the contests.
Refused to participate and still do.
But I think they serve a purpose...being that they keep the people who like them (and they are usually chums) amused.
And the contests might be an ego boost for those who want it or need it.
There's some good in everything...maybe

And the banter back and forth in those threads? To me, it seems a bit desperate for "I'm popular", or "look at me", attention, (from some of the posters... NOT all).
I wonder why that type of validation is needed.
Maybe they're feeling a bit insecure?
