I'd have to go with number 2 too. The politicians here don't care what any of the citizens say. They are only in it for the money. And of course they need the money in order to run for elections. That's what is wrong with this country is the way they raise billions of dollars from special interest groups in order to pay for all that TV ad time. Then they are beholding to those special interest groups and they do the bidding for them and nothing to do with the people. The public vote is just a sham anyways.. they only come out and lie to us every time they are running for office. Then the rest of the time they completely ignore the people. So, yeah there is too much government involvement in our daily lives. They don't care one bit about the constitution. If they stuck to just the powers afforded them under the constitution we wouldn't have any of this social security mess... none of the medicaid and medicare fraud... and them making laws telling us what we have to wear on our heads when we go biking or skiing, and what we can take for medicine and when we can talk on the phone. There is far too much illegal government involvement in the citizens lives here. I say illegal because they don't have the constitutional authority to make any of those laws.

This country is a joke. It's not even close to being a democracy.

I have no complaints about the Swedish government. They take care of the people here in this socialistic society and guess whatidea ---the government intervention here has not led to some merciless fascist regime.

I'm a libertarian right now. Really, what choices are there for meaningful choice (that are actually sane)? Now it's about choosing between Tweedledum and Tweedledee. How is Obama any different from Bush (for instance)?

They did try to rule the Baltic sea and spread their dominance as far as Germany, but they did not have the resources and manpower. All this was before the savage times of the Vikings lol. The Swedes still own a part of Denmark---down in southern Sweden---Skåne.

Down here we have a Prime Minister who is hell-bent on single-handedly saving the planet from oblivion.

If the Bills that are presently in Parliament get through, they will not only intervene on the lives of every person in the country, it will send the economy right down the chute.

And I don't want any government, kowtowing to loopy tree-huggers, telling me telling me how I should run my day-to-day life.

I thought after Copenhagen this bloke's ego may have been a bit deflated.

Gotta go. The Pacific Ocean is coming through my back door!!!

So to all those people who feel government intervention should be reduced, where?

Defence, Security, Law & Order, guaranteeing personal liberties? We in the UK are constantly being slagged off for the potato famine in Eire, our government was doing what everybody here wants, not intervening. So is this another lose-lose scenario, governments are damned if they intervene and damned if they don't?

Well said kitty.

Also we have governments here in Australia at both federal & state level who are hell bent on eroding freedon of speech. We will in the next 6 - 12 months have total internet filtering ( internet sites the Govt deems to be unsuitable will be banned, journalists are being jailed if they dont disclose their sources & in South Australia the state government until yesterday wanted to control all media as far as comments made about them. With a state election coming up they also were wishing to ban all comments that were prujudice towards them but that backfired.
