Don't know how to vote. Who are you impressing? And generally is you are well groomed and clean everything should be fine. Unless you have no self esteem. That would come through no matter what you're wearing.
Just wear what you usually wear when going out, why give a false impression that will soon be found out. Honesty is more important than impressing someone IMO.
navygirl1: A man will not impress with his clothes but by being himself so he can wear what he wants.
That depends on who he is trying to impress. If it´s a job interview then clothes are very important.
If it´s a date, then of course dress code is not so important, but I personally notice the way people dress, and for me it reflects a lot about the person.
I also feel the same way about profile pics, not just how people are dressed, but what their house looks like in the background. If I see a photo of someone, however nice it may be, a messy or grubby sitting room, an unmade bed, toothpaste tubes and personal hygiene odds and ends on a bathroom shelf, put me right off!

Well I assumed the Op was talking about dating and nothing else. To me how one dresses in a profile picture doesn't mean anything either; its who the person is. As the old saying goes; clothes don't make the man.

It's sort of funny you mention some of these things. My pic has very specific things in the back round to reflect my lifestyle. I also NEVER wear a suit to a first date. It would be a total lie about who I am. I dress neatly but casually. Oh, and I try to brush the french fries off the front seat of my truck.

I wouldn´t expect anyone to turn up in a suit for a first date, so neat, casual AND clean is fine.
You´ve obviously thought about what was in the background when your profile pic was taken, a lot don´t. They are so busy striking a glam or beefcase pose that they forget about that mountain of ironing behind them waiting to be done, or the grubby dressing gown hanging over the door.

Picture this: Evening, almost sunset on a secluded beach. The waves lapping lazily against the shore. A soft coastal breeze touching your skin. Walking towards you along the beach is your man. He is wearing a white tuxedo shirt that is undone and flowing behind him as he walks. His black tux trouser legs are rolled up to his calves and he is walking barefoot ever so casually. In one hand he has 2 crystal glasses and the other a bottle of champagne. Your thoughts are obvious to him, cause he sees the longing in your eyes and the slightly open mouth that is just waiting for that first kiss.
