EriK_tg: Careful while you're hurling those elephants.

God can do anything in the sense that He has unrestrained creative/transmutive/locomotive/destructive power over all matter and energy. .

Right there...fist lines - no need to go any further as you've made my point.professor

I've not denied god's power, but the fantasy that he would intentianlly throw us a curve ball of univeral proportions to allow for some ridiculous faith/s.

EriK_tg: I don't understand what you're saying here. It sounds like you're regarding 'science' as some kind of force of nature that would be a direct cause of the Flood.

That doesn't make sense. Can you explain?

so you're saying that because scientific fact proves that the flood couldn't have occurred, it must be wrong, but that while there is nothing to prove it DID exist other than a book, then it must have happened??rolling on the floor laughing i can see why you don't understandrolling on the floor laughing doh

It doesn't seem as if you understand what I've said. I get the feeling you think that I'm saying God "magically" made a bunch of water appear out of nowhere, and then "magically" made all the rocks and fossils appear as they are, and then "magically" made the water disappear.

That's not what I'm suggesting. There are extensive analyses of various potential mechanisms that have been done, and they are highly satisfying in a mechanistic (i.e. no random miracles) sense.

No, I'm saying that his wording makes it seem as if he thinks "science," far from being a concept or process, is a physical entity capable of moving things. Do you believe that that's what science is?

Imagine that there are 299 million of those people in the US (population 300 million), and that there's not enough room in the jails. They're ready to go on a burglaring, assaulting, terrorizing spree, and you have two options:
1. Defend yourself (will result in their deaths)
2. They kill you (and then themselves and the rest of the world)

God chose option 1--> He chose to preserve the righteous at the expense of the wicked.

science is a method of proving why or how things happen, rather than just saying 'because god did it'... whether you call it 'magic' or a 'miracle' is irrelevant, just saying 'because I said so, or the bible said so' is the argument that 5 year olds use, because they have no real explanation.

I'll give ya ONE shot to throw some GOOD science in...if ya can.

The earth is about 4 billion years old and the current geology and geogrphy is NOW as it was THEN at the time of the flood - only a handful of millennia ago.

Tell me how water rose up to a point to cover mountains and then left again since the earth was not and is not smooth and the volume of water on the earth varies little.

You can not allow for god "helping" nor break any known laws of physics or ignore the geological record.

If ya got a good one I'll be the first to say so.

I would like to think that any parent that had 300m children , and 299m of them were burglarising, terror spree/assaulting types,... would be for eternity be prevented from ever having any more children, since they obviously have zero parenting skills and extremely bad genes., rather than being allowed to murder all their children and start again!!so that argument is not only ridiculous but sooo childish, and since I only choose to have intelligent discussions with adults, I bid you goodnightlaugh

I see where your problem is.

You think a flood that covers the whole earth would for some reason NOT erode everything on the surface and redeposit it elsewhere. Would you like an explanation of why floods are catastrophic and not tranquil?

You don't think a country should defend itself if another country wants to murder everyone in that country?

Guess I know where your morals lie. dancing

(You're running into problems because you're trying to apply a double standard to God. God is just. Spend some time trying to figure out how to justly save a remnant of humanity from hundreds of millions of people whose only epithet says, "and the earth was filled with violence from them, and every thought on their minds was only evil, continually." Maybe you'll arrive at a conclusion that makes more sense)

Good luck innocent
