On, I don't recognize that at all. The shape and coloration would appear to be in the family of pumpkin/squash, but the ones I've seen aren't as bumpy and the stems are thicker.

Jim, no problem to freeze mangoes. Peel and slice them first. Also, I recommend putting a few into into freezer bags. If you bag too many it's difficult to separate. Also try pouring milk in the bag as it helps to stop freezer burn - ice formation around the outside of the fruit.
A co worker slices 2 halves as close to the seed as possible. then she puts it peel side down and cut squares ala Rubicks Cube. Easy to eat, no mess and no one cares that you've wasted 30% of the mango to have it gourmet style.
Bearwoman, there are many different varieties and each has it's own flavor. Someone gave me 2 Asian mangoes that were yellow and had a smooth texture to the seed. The mangoes from my tree have more fibers as you cut close to the seed.
Spend $5,000 on a vacation and have a bunch of tourists running around bumping people with selfie sticks could be reason enough to get annoyed... especially if they ignore the signs NO SELFIE STICKS
