Because, since the opening up of the west to countries such as Russia, Ukraine, China etc, they see the west as a land full of wealthy successful people, a land of milk and honey, this is generated by western movies, Tv and media in general.
My students, all intelligent, truly believe that American families all live in 5 bedroomed houses with 3 cars, a pool and staff to run the home, even the English text books we use perpetuate this belief, when I explain the reality they are disappointed.
However, that said, even a lowly factory worker in the west has on average a better lifestyle than many from the eastern block.
If you are honest when communicating with ladies from Russia etc, explain the true way of life, that will sort the wheat from the chaff, there are hundreds if not thousands of successful marriages produced from these sites, honesty and communication are the key factors. IMO

How can travelling and experiencing a new and very different culture possibly be a waste of money??
If you are going to China just to get laid , well you're in for a disappointment, unless you want to pay for it and then you will find it cheaper in your homeland.
If, however, you are going for the experience, I can assure you, China is beautiful, some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and some of the kindest most generous and peaceful people on this planet!!!
I have yet to meet a foreigner here who has not enjoyed every moment since they set foot in this country.
Oh, and if finances stretch for it, go on a Yanksi Cruise, a real eye opener!!!

I am also looking into this, at present I use my laptop as English books are unavailable in my city, but, like you I have a passion for reading in bed and the lappy is just a pain, the amazon version looks good, but not available in China, so I may have to travel to Shanghai to buy a Sony or possibly the Apple, but still researching, I will keep you posted

The most likely reason is that the sender was a scammer who was deleted by the Mods, when a member is deleted all their mail/flowers etc are deleted as well.

Two things come to mind,
1, is he in another country with a time difference? That could cause talking a problem
2, Is there a language problem? When I chat to my Chinese friend, I almost always text, even though she has said voice calls are okay, but in my experience, voice calls often got misunderstood, whereas text messages were always clear and fully understood.

Very true, I can admit that I have given nothing to the Pakistan disaster, yet!!.
However, I have given to the disaster fund for the thousands who have died and hundreds of thousands left homeless in Northern China due to floods and landslides,I believe those who donate tend to do so to those funds that have a direct connection to them.
China is now my adopted home, so it makes more sense for me to help my host country than elsewhere.

I have been a member for a few years now and am amazed at how some people take it all so seriously, this is a dating site with a public forum attached, not someone’s private living room.

Why is it so hard to understand that everyone has an opinion, it is of no consequence what that opinion is, you either agree, disagree or sit on the fence.

By becoming embroiled in name calling and personnel insults, surely this is just showing the readers a side of you that maybe should remain hidden, I accept it can be hard sometimes to not get involved, most members have at sometime had such a disagreement, and voiced their opinion in an aggressive manner, but recently the attacks have been getting worse and worse. An opinion is just that, if you don’t agree, just put forward a valid response explaining your view, why the hostility?

This site used to be a fun place; somewhere we could go to and have a laugh and a chat. Now it just seems to be for those who want attention and antagonistic posts.

Are we taking it all too seriously??

Oh and the word religion, is believed by Oxford University (Some may understand they have greatest knowledge of the English Language) that the word originates from an anglo french latin root
Religare, to be tied up or bound, so a loose translation would be to be bound or tied to a faith.

Just a thought and not meaning to be rude, but how does anyone know the OP is genuine? It's all very well being good intentioned, but how would someone feel if they found they had helped a stalker, or perhaps there is a court order preventing someone from getting in contact?
There are correct channels for parents who have lost touch with their children, and I really believe the OP should use those and not go though members of CS.
It places too much responsibility on that member IMO

The main reason Hamas gained its power was the fact they threatened to kill those who voted against them.If you actually read the FULL history, you will see that Israel never attempted to encroach on Gaza until the Palestinians attacked Israel, Israel then set up a wide border, this was pushed back by Palestine, the Israelis then forced it back and retaliated by taking extra land.
Whether this action is right or wrong is debatable,however, the crux of the ongoing war is solely in the hands of the Palestinians, they had many chances to secure peace but always found some reason to reject it
Get rid of hamas, and you get rid of the ongoing threat to Israel, peace will then occur. But as long as hamas have the upper hand and continue to loudly voice that all Israelis must die, then peace will never happen.

This is an international site, therefore English is the predominant language used, besides, for some reason this site fails to recognise Chinese symbols, so I guess you're stuck with using English.
The bright side is that it will help you improve your English, as long as you don't learn the bad grammar that's often written by native English speakers

In my opinion the romance associated with France is greatly exaggerated, mainly by the French, Paris is supposed to be the most romantic city in the world, but again this opinion is mainly held by those who have never visited the city, Sure is has some beautiful buildings and museums etc, but the food is overrated and overpriced, the local people are some of the most unfriendly in Europe, again my opinion, but many French friends have also said the same, if you want true romance, go to Italy, sit in the main square in Sienna as the evening sun sets, drinking Campari and white wine, and then eat a true Italian meal, cooked to perfection by someone who actually loves preparing and cooking food, while musicians serenade you and your love one, believe me, it cannot be beaten
