RE: OVER 30 YEARS.

Well I'm 46 and looking for a healthy young wan (early twenties) to have my babies! Any takers? Form an orderly queue please!

RE: OVER 30 YEARS.

I don't think it'll be too late if you don't have any by the time you're 40. The reason you and your dad were so different was maybe because he was raised in a different culture from you, a different Ireland. My dad was 40 when I was born and was very different from me, not because of the age gap itself but because he was raised in a different type of society. That wouldn't happen so much any more as Ireland has changed for everyone.

RE: school punishments.

They're considering bringing the army in to some schools in Britain, to see if that would work.

RE: school punishments.

At 17 or 18 they are young adults and in school by choice, I'd agree with that but from 12 to 16 they are just kids and need strong discipline. Corporal punishment should never have been totally got rid of, it should be kept for serious cases, JMO.

RE: DESIDERATA

I'm having trouble with the whole 'surrender gracefully the things of youth' bit.

RE: school punishments.

laugh I thought I'd got over the nightmares of my childhood but then along comes Pedro and reminds me of them.laugh

RE: school punishments.

I think some people are born bad...born with the devil in them in fact.
Sorry, I've been influenced by Pedro's posts these last few days. laugh

RE: school punishments.

In theory yeah, but just thinking back to my own school days I don't think a bit of fear did me any harm, but then too much fear can stop you learning and you certainly don't want that.

Some kids are just bad kids though (not your son) and will do bad things unless they are afraid of punishment.JMO

RE: school punishments.

Fair enough, that was brutally excessive. The Brothers had a lot to answer for, most of them should never have been let anywhere near children.

RE: school punishments.

What are you on about Jimbo?laugh
