Wow, interesting answer MissT. I wonder how many felt that way? My father was a little older perhaps, but he felt the opposite - pessimistic. Left the Netherlands for Australia in the mid 50's. But then, if he'd hung on a few more years, things did start to boom by late 50's-60's.
No you got me wrong. I meant that you weren't around to stir up Abbie, so I thought I better do it. What are these other sites anyway, this place and the pipple here NEED stirring up a bit - getting too quiet!
Well, you might. I've been doing a lot of reading since you started this thread. BTW, my grandparents had never heard of canabis. Me, however, I have heard of it. Wanna start a new thread on the benefits of cannabis?
But the question related to the time when you transitioned to adulthood, which for most people turns out to be an important time. Each decade threw up different challenges for those becoming adults.
Another interesting fact: 5% of Australians own a gun (they are not illegal, just certain types.) Approx 50% of American household have one or more guns.
I wouldn't say that. "We" ie, those who frequent the forums and blogs, are mostly older ppl and we are wary of making anymore mistakes and mostly happy being free. Maybe the interaction we have here is all we need and all we can handle? The more frequently we post, the less likely we are to have much interaction in "RL". Although I guess that doesn't apply to those who are (semi) retired so have more spare time to post.
I know, I was just trying to stir you up Abbie. Lookin' was just joking and I took it upon myself to stir you up since Lookin' seems to have abandoned his 2nd job for the moment. I'm sure his trucking company would take a dim view of that sort of dereliction of duty. Right Lookin' ?
Here are a couple of links I've found useful, if overwhelming. the first is "Pro" and the second is "Con". I'm trying to stick with rational, reasoned sites, not raving lunatics.
Hmmmm... coming from Graeme? Good one, but not sure if it complies with the Standards: AS/NZS 2961 Part B 2001: Inter Alia, Clause 4.1.2.5b
"Abbreviations or Nicknames formed with a 'double z' convolution must begin with a consonant followed by a vowel...."
And Claus 10.1.3: "Exceptions to this Standard must first pass both houses of parliament in the relevant country, by a 2/3's majority, following which a referendum shall be held coincident with the next scheduled general election."
Remember Gazza and Wazza Smith, Holden dealership?
How many other names are commonly improved by addition of a few zzzz's? EG: Larry > Lazza Barry > Bazza Harry (or Harold) > Hazza Darren > Dazza Jarred (or other spellings) > Jazza (have not heard that one but logical) Terry > Tezza
Girls: Karen > Kaz Mary > Mezz Melanie > Melz
That's about all I can come up with but there must be lots more.
Now this thread I'm sure will bring the Aussie/NZ forums to LIFE again right? Because let's face it, it has been very quiet here the last couple of weeks. People away on holidays? Haven't they heard of smart phones or phablets??
RE: science or religion
Don't know what you're trying to say, but put me down for:Science - 1
Religion - 0
