Don't know what you're trying to say, but put me down for:

When was the best era to be young? (15-25 yrs old)

Wow, interesting answer MissT. I wonder how many felt that way? My father was a little older perhaps, but he felt the opposite - pessimistic. Left the Netherlands for Australia in the mid 50's. But then, if he'd hung on a few more years, things did start to boom by late 50's-60's.
dunno

When was the best era to be young? (15-25 yrs old)

Oh, ok good answer. Is that a good thing though?dunno

RE: When viewing a profile do you ever check the tests or quizes they have taken?

No, had no idea you could do that. However, knowing it now, I still won't bother.
BTW cswelcome wave

RE: How Long Is Your.......

No you got me wrong. I meant that you weren't around to stir up Abbie, so I thought I better do it.
What are these other sites anyway, this place and the pipple here NEED stirring up a bit - getting too quiet!

RE: What's your approach to finding love?

You know that Henry Lawson was very fond of this saying too. (while debating the wite Australia policy.)
He thought he made it up - maybe he did?

RE: OM-D EM1

Wow, a fire going?! It was 42 here today. Had the air con on all day and it is now 26C indoors (9:45PM)

RE: GLOBAL WARMING

Well, you might. I've been doing a lot of reading since you started this thread.
BTW, my grandparents had never heard of canabis. Me, however, I have heard of it. laugh
Wanna start a new thread on the benefits of cannabis? tongue

When was the best era to be young? (15-25 yrs old)

Yeah of course mate; I'm 60 and am still young. laugh

But the question related to the time when you transitioned to adulthood, which for most people turns out to be an important time. Each decade threw up different challenges for those becoming adults.

RE: Warning: Gun confiscation coming soon

This is an interesting article on gun control just before the ""Third Reich"

Another interesting fact:
5% of Australians own a gun (they are not illegal, just certain types.)
Approx 50% of American household have one or more guns.

RE: Warning: Gun confiscation coming soon

Here are some statistics for those who are wondering. The murder rate calculated as (intentional) murders per 100,000 population. 2011 figures

UK 1.0
Australia 1.1
USA 4.7
Canada 1.5
Honduras 91.6

Yes, the trend in many countries, including USA is downward.

RE: how to find a friend in 1 minute

Good answer, so true! dancing dog

RE: how to find a friend in 1 minute

Do they? I don't know; hasn't happened to me yet.tongue

RE: how to find a friend in 1 minute

Cool, what did he sacrifice for you?

RE: how to find a friend in 1 minute

Can't be done.sigh

RE: What's your approach to finding love?

Too scarred? Yes, I think we all carry some relationship scars.

RE: What's your approach to finding love?

I wouldn't say that. "We" ie, those who frequent the forums and blogs, are mostly older ppl and we are wary of making anymore mistakes and mostly happy being free. Maybe the interaction we have here is all we need and all we can handle?
The more frequently we post, the less likely we are to have much interaction in "RL". Although I guess that doesn't apply to those who are (semi) retired so have more spare time to post.

Peace, out. peace

RE: How Long Is Your.......

I know, I was just trying to stir you up Abbie. laugh Lookin' was just joking and I took it upon myself to stir you up since Lookin' seems to have abandoned his 2nd job for the moment. I'm sure his trucking company would take a dim view of that sort of dereliction of duty.
Right Lookin' ? doh

RE: love...and it's indirect implications ....How much are you willing to offer ?

That's beautiful.kiss

RE: What's your approach to finding love?

Have a look in the phone book, the are heaps of Miss Wrights. laugh

RE: GLOBAL WARMING

Here are a couple of links I've found useful, if overwhelming. the first is "Pro" and the second is "Con".
I'm trying to stick with rational, reasoned sites, not raving lunatics.

Gazza and Wazza

Excellent. Yes, feel free; Mez, Kaz and Melz concur.

Gazza and Wazza

Hmmmm... coming from Graeme? Good one, but not sure if it complies with the Standards: AS/NZS 2961 Part B 2001: Inter Alia, Clause 4.1.2.5b

"Abbreviations or Nicknames formed with a 'double z' convolution must begin with a consonant followed by a vowel...."

And Claus 10.1.3:
"Exceptions to this Standard must first pass both houses of parliament in the relevant country, by a 2/3's majority, following which a referendum shall be held coincident with the next scheduled general election."

Gazza and Wazza

Ah yes, how could I forget the wonderful Shazza from Kath n Kim?

Gazza and Wazza

Remember Gazza and Wazza Smith, Holden dealership?

laugh

How many other names are commonly improved by addition of a few zzzz's?
EG:
Larry > Lazza
Barry > Bazza
Harry (or Harold) > Hazza
Darren > Dazza
Jarred (or other spellings) > Jazza (have not heard that one but logical)
Terry > Tezza

Girls:
Karen > Kaz
Mary > Mezz
Melanie > Melz

That's about all I can come up with but there must be lots more.

Now this thread I'm sure will bring the Aussie/NZ forums to LIFE again right? Because let's face it, it has been very quiet here the last couple of weeks. People away on holidays? Haven't they heard of smart phones or phablets??

RE: Health matters

Good to hear you are on the mend again. cheers

RE: classical music
