RE: Suitable House warming gifts

I got an IKEA voucher for my birthday LAST year and still have it.
Really need to get down at some stage to spend it. grin

RE: Suitable House warming gifts

dunno
A pot plant? one of those yukka plants.

I bought one for a friend of mine when he moved into his apt and he looked at me funny! BUT 5 yrs later its a lovely looking thing and he's loves it.
Have bought a few plants for housewarming gifts.

RE: ELECTRIC PICNIC

jaysus since when did you move to cork????wow

RE: A date ,,,,,,,,,

I would have thought that since you asked maddog to back you up that he knows you and could vouch for you being a genuine person.
Thats what I took out of it......maybe thats what annie did too? dunno

RE: Everything Premier League related

have a wee look at these....either the website or through facebook.

It'll be coming soon to more places than you think and better to be one of the first than the rest that will follow. grin

RE: Do you flirt

outright flirting....i'm crap at it even if i was trying to chat someone up.

Wouldnt do it on a day to day basis and not while working.
Although I have been called a flirt because apparently I change my tone of voice when talking to some people, smile more and have expressive eyes.
But I dont do it consciously. So if thats flirting, then maybe I do do it, I just dont realise I am.

RE: does coffee leave the same taste in your mouth as guinness....????

Havent a clue....dont drink either of them.

Love coffee cake and guinness stew.....and both of them taste different, so would that work as an answer???

RE: Afternoon

The sun is shining here, have the laptop propped up on the picnic table out at my folks house (stealing their unlimited broadband to download a few movies)
Then it'll be lazying in the sunshine for a while.
Although I hate just lying out....much rather be reading but too bright and I dont pick up my new glasses til tomorrow.

As for the GAA .....I watch very very little. Had such a giggle watching the kilkenny match last weekend. SO I think my GAA watching is done for the year now...

RE: Well done all you "Yes" Voters!

Any chance of re-naming this thread:

"Iceland.....what do you think happened?"

RE: Value Based Property tax on the way

Makes me glad I rent tbh.
And thank heavens for it not being allowed to pass on these charges directly to tenants. Although I am sure some will try when the once a year permitted rent review is.

RE: Value Based Property tax on the way

Oh and who is going to decide the current value of your house?

RE: Value Based Property tax on the way

Ok so if you own a 2000sqft house in dublin you'd owe WAAAAY more than someone with a 2000sqft house in the middle of Offaly for example?

(since i'm presuming the dublin house would be worth more than the one in offaly)

RE: Well done all you "Yes" Voters!

Every country is different and as such imo not easily comparable.

But Ireland is without doubt in for a tough few years.
Whether or not is was of our making is irrelevant, its how we manage to get through it that counts now.

I didnt vote yes or no.....

RE: did anyone make there confirmation and break the pledge??

Yup broken.....but probably not for a few years after anyway.....defo wasnt drinking at 12, 13, 14, and maybe one or two at 15.

It's oh so quiet.

was thinking I might watch captain america again.
Am partial to my marvel movies (minus spiderman)

It's oh so quiet.

it's oh so quiet in here today.

How come?

I was thinking about it and I thought....oh....who's missing that is normally in the forums?
Are there certain people who seem to bring the chat along? Get people interested and responsive? both positively and negatively(although ideally both should be creative comments inducing)

Or will I have to resort to watching a chick flick movie?
(watched all the action ones I'd downloaded blues)

RE: Snap anyone?

I like them separate though.
Means I remember to read them, otherwise I'd forget to check if there were new ones in a thread.

Unemployment and training

I think anything's an option at the moment.
Just emailed the local VEC to see if there is anything that might be suitable for me.

Who knows maybe I should do a portfolio course and get back into my art!dunno

RE: Snap anyone?

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Unemployment and training

I have a meeting with my Local Employment Officer next week to see what's out there that I havent found myself.

May have to have a wee think about doing something for the sake of something to do rather than trying to find something I actually think would be beneficial employment wise.

Unemployment and training

emigrating as a 37 single mother.....effective.
ALthough I agree with your last statement.

Unemployment and training

as soon as I read it i knew it was him too, so changed my password even before he managed to 'out' himself.

Unemployment and training

fas is a joke alright always was...at 18 I did a fas course and it was the biggest mistake I've made so far in my life...I came into contact with real scum bags and as an innocent chap at the time it had a bad affect on me..when i was unemployed few years back I went to the local fas centre to see if they had anything for me...Her advice was to emigrate...lotta help she was...This is supposed to be an Irish employment centre and they tell people to emigrate to find jobsroll eyes

Unemployment and training

I've been looking into that too. Want something to get me out of the house. You never know what I might end up doing just to make sure I keep my sanity!!

Unemployment and training

I am unemployed and I godamn hate it.

I've had no replies from applications nor jobsbridge positions.

I've had numerous meetings with my Local employment Officer too.

Finally after months and months of her telling me there was no course to put me down for. Nothing suitable for me to do......I actually find one!
Woohoo.
Put my name down for it 3 months ago for start date next week.
Then it got pushed out to a start date in sept.
Then last month a start date in oct.
SO I phoned on monday to make sure it was still on, and was told, interviews would be soon but that since I should have been on a similar course last year that I wouldnt have a problem.

Cue tuesday and I am talking about the course to a friend and said I would send them the link and guess what.....I cant find it anywhere!

Contacted them to find out the course has been pulled and for me to apply for one of their evening courses! Fat lot of good that does for me 20miles from the fas centre and no transport.
And its not as if I would make a good roofer or a domestic thermal insulation person.

Hate hate hate hate hate this crap!!!

RE: Do You see the Uniform or the Person

My experience has been primarily positive do obviously therefore I am biased towards that side of things. And with having close family members either in or retired from the guards, then I no doubt have a biased there too.
If I have any less than favourable opinions with regards to this particular occupation, then it would be my 2 encounters with female guards which havent been particularly pleasant.
But my starting point when I meet them and anyone else for that matter for the first time, is a favourable one. Its up to them how it goes from there.

RE: Do You see the Uniform or the Person

So maybe you believe there are more bad apples than good. But I do not believe that every single one of the is 'rotten to the core'.

RE: Do You see the Uniform or the Person

There are bad fruit in every basket.

RE: Do You see the Uniform or the Person

Didnt realise that....thanks
Here was me grumbling about the extra €15.50 for the 2 passports I have to pay for using the express service through the post office. grin

RE: Do You see the Uniform or the Person

Its quicker isnt it? but dearer since you have to pay an administrative charge. Sure I will find out later. Dont need them til end of october so not in any panic.
