I was on seconds after the Maryland Terrapins won the NCAA basketball championship. A reporter came up to me and asked how I felt. All I could say was "Maryland Terrapins, National Champions Baby!" I was a tad excited. My brother is a TV reporter in Baltimore, but he wasn't the one who interviewed me.
Agree--ego led others to run to moderator and hide behind their skirts. They couldn't take being wrong--hardheadedness, which is part of ego, was the catalyst.
Good 80's music was the best. The emergence of punk and alternative from the 70's came to America from England and hidden small clubs in NY city. Just an awesome time for creativity and great music!
