RE: The eternal battle between the forces of seriousness and fun

I think that guy should wear underpants the next time he starts a fight laugh

Or at least do up the draw string on his jogging pants laugh

And maybe the other guy might not want to start a fight by putting his head on the other lads willy? Just sayin, it looks like these two guy know each other and this is just some sort of public role play they get into before getting freaky with it laugh

RE: The eternal battle between the forces of seriousness and fun

It's not just Ireland Larry. The entire globe is covered with this double-think. Everybody thinks we are just one more law or one great leader away from salvation. But you know the world is changing fast and there is a chance it will change too fast for the dinosuars of government and State. For instance, in a decade we will have self-drive cars. How will the cops bust you for drunk driving a self-drive car?

RE: The eternal battle between the forces of seriousness and fun

That would be the job of the philosophers I'd say. If something is not true at all times, in all places and in all ciccumstances, then it is a fallacy. Take violence for instance. When is it ok to initiate violence against somebody? I don't mean self-defence, that's not initiating violence. I mean, when is it ok to go up to somebody and attack them or rob them or kidnap them? Never, right? But we find, in our own country and time a group of people who think it is ok to do just that if they have a special costume with the word 'Garda' written on it.

When is it ok to steal someones property? Never, right? But we have people who will scribble some writing on a paper in the Oireachtas and say it gives them the power to steal.

We don't have to go to other countries to find people who live outside the accepted norms of a civilised society. And that's no laughting matter laugh

RE: The eternal battle between the forces of seriousness and fun

Check out the diversity on this fella

RE: The eternal battle between the forces of seriousness and fun

Good on ya Larry, the last of the Independents thumbs up

RE: RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

Affluence caused the spread of drugs???? Yeah them 13 year old girls in Ballymun and Dolphin's Barn flats had far too much money to spend laugh

So you're saying the solution to the drug gangs it to have a totalitarian state like the Chinese Communists? Yeah, that's one solution uh oh

If you study addiction it runs in families and communities because junkies who need to support their habit get other addicted on purpose. Ask any junkie. They all go their first turn on off a 'friend' or relative. Cut the market and you cut the spread of addiction. Stop criminalising people who are addicts and most of them will spontanaeously rehabilitate. That was the experience in the Liverpool and Zuirich experiments, until the State ended them for political reasons.

I don't take any drugs but if people are out tonight taking drugs in the local pub it is none of my business. The drug dealers are there by popular demand to supply their vodka or Guinness and that's their business, not mine. I think the problem is people just can't mind their own business.

Yes, it was the Jews who were behind shipping tons of opium into China. David Sassoon was a devout Jew who only employed Jews in his 'business'. How interesting that their bank, HSBC, is in the news again for laundering drug money. I guess some je... leopards never change their spots..

RE: What's on your mind..part 18

Ah, that's very sad. Being missing for a couple of days is nothing to a buck cat. But he's living his little life and that's a good thing. I hope he turns up without too many scratches.

Is he neutered?

RE: RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

I hear women can go out and buy trousers too. That's awful. There ought to be a law. I mean, society will crumble if woman are allowed to wear the pants. Every woman you see will be wearing pants laugh

Good night folks wave

RE: RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

I think the US culture of the early 20th century more closely resembles Irish culture than Chinese culture during the opium wars. And yes, you are correct it was the British who forced them to take the opium, hence Opium wars. That's where the HSBC bank came from. It was the vehicle whereby the British get the opium money back from Hong Kong.

Seriously though, how many people do you know who are not today taking drugs will run out and buy them because they are decriminalised? I don't know anyone myself.

RE: RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

You must have misread it. You are saying that the war on drugs is unwinnable and that that is a no win situation. I agree. But I am saying that it's the State's prohibition on drugs that is making them a valuable commodity and that that is the problem. It's like when the American woman voted for alcohol prohibition and the result was crime gangs in every town running bootleg alcohol. That's where the Mafia and the Kennedy's got their power and money from. It's the same today in every mojor Irish town. Scumbags would normally be driving bangers and robbing hub-caps are armed to the teeth and they have more money than the know what to do with.

The jokes on us though because we pay for the cops and we pay for the criminals when they get caught. It's a costly racket for us. And that's not even counting when it comes to your own door through crime or addiction.

RE: RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

Drugs + Prohibition = Profit to be made in drugs

No State = No Prohibition = No Profit = No Gangs = Less Crime = Less spread of disease and addiction

RE: RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

Oh come on, a bunch of junkies and hippies! And the best equipped forces on the island out to get them and the hippies are still winning? Surely it's not meant to be won? What would all those over-paid people do with themselves if there was no eternal war on drugs to buy them flashy suits? Get an actual job? Perish the thought laugh

But how would we fight the war on drugs without a State? We wouldn't.

Anti-Feminism; The Radical Notion That Feminists are Insane

Ah, the therapists have a new buzz word, have they? Well, good for them. Anything that saves them having to think or feel is good.

I'm proud to say I haven't been following any of it. I would agree that it is some sort of put-on though since the media are making such a big deal of it.

RE: RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

The western world is filling up with cheap high-grade heroin. Since the Taliban were ousted from Afghanistan and the 'good guys' took over, heroin production has gone up thousands of times. That one country now produces 92% of the world's heroin. It's not shipped out by the tonne, it's shipped out a couple of hundred tonnes at a time. But not to worry the Americans are about to put the Taliban back in power so they shold start to curb production in a few years.
