haha - I really must get on with scanning all my photos onto the computer then get an external hard-drive - easy to carry running outa a burning home - oh I dread to think
It wasnt you Nightingale, dont feel bad - all of us started to stray - then I went out for a while or would have started the new thread myself - Im totally sure Unicornelle will be ok with it all
Besides Boris Valejo I have a favourite in the Manchester City Gallery that I go to see at least one a year. Its by John Spencer Stanhope and is The Waters of Lethe by the Plains of Elysium.
It is of world weary pilgrims making their way to the river of forgetfulness. A procession of exhausted stooping figures, some young, some old, two carrying children, one man carriying a young sleeping woman, cross a barren, rocky plain in foreground towards the river of forgetfulness on the right.
Before them, on the right, a trail of naked figures swim across the river, climbing out the other side into into a beautiful landscape, cleansed and revitalised. More people prepare to cross behind them from rocks on the left.
The landscape on the other side of the river is full of flowers and trees with the City of Florence visible in the distance. The residents are dressed in colourful clothes and look happy and carefree. A colourful sunset can be seen over the city.
sounds as if you have a bunch of very lucky room-mates Kev. I love stir fry's yum and so quick to make as you say - almost quicker than waiting for a delivery - god, i wish there was a mothwatering emoticon thinking of that duck
BB, the trip for the fresh fish sounds wonderful - I was watching the boats coming in at Cromarty last week and thought what a wonderful way to live
Uni - the sausage dish sounds so good - Im gonna give that one a go - I was sold when you mentioned the Greek cheese and I suppose a few olives would be ok too - the method of slowcooking to remove the fat is good, I never cook anything in oil but do as you say, slowly and all its own fats run out - I like sausage casserole too, lots of onions and mushrooms
Crockpots are such a good invention Mystic arent they - its good when you have to go out for the day to come home to a hot meal already made
So true Fireliter and I hate throwing food away - one thing I do is, whenever I make a curry I save some then can have a curry night with lots of different dishes - I like your idea of a pot of soup, portions of that can be frozen too - you sound like a pretty good cook, I dont know many people who make their own soup - I make a mean pea and ham soup, in fact Im almost glad winter is coming on and its nearly time for a batch of that
Hi BB, thanks for pic. comp. ! there are more of my holiday on my profile, all of the Scottish Highlands - it was amazing.
I have just come back from the supermarket with a bag of prepared salad as buying the ingredients seperately I would be eating the same thing for a month - the bag will last a couple of days so its just as well its one i love - I agree with you, its good to re-package before freezing
I dont know about where you live but here, all the small fishmongers and green grocers have given way to the huge supermarkets and their overpackaged, identically sized/grown goods - its all so boring. I love to cook for a few people but seldom do - its much more interesting.
RE: Duets
erm - i think he may be up in smoke -
