It's an interesting story how Roy came to do the vocals on this track. They felt that Roger Waters wasn't quite there with the vocals, Roy was recording in the next studio. Someone suggested asking Roy to sing, so he was asked if he would help them out.....and the rest is history.
Roy Harper....often described as a musician's musician and quite often the best ever British songwriter. Roy has been writing and singing 'mighty' songs since the 60's. Most people have never heard of him, but unknowingly listened to him. Here he is when he became only the second person to be the lead singer on a Pink Floyd track....
Great friend of Jimmy Page, lots of stuff on youtube with them playing together, Led Zep even recorded a song dedicated to him....Hats of to Roy (Harper.)
The word love on it's own can relate to many different situations. I might 'love' cream cakes, but theyre not going to heal me. Romantic love is just a temporary fix...."love is a drug" as the song went.
I think youre referring to 'loving kindness' which certainly heals if it's genuine and really comes from the heart.
I saw that episode where he explained the event horizon, it was fascinating. He really does unravel the complex and and explain the unfathomable in a way that can be comprehended.
As for does he do LSD, I doubt it....but maybe his parents did.
If you read on from my first post you'll see I acknowldged that. Pehaps I should have aimed my comments to the OP for allowing the thread to go in that direction knowing full what the acronym represented. When I saw the title of the thread I assumed it was an oppotunity to discuss a really serious problem facing many young people. Clearly that wasn't the case, probably due to the ambiguity of the op and the lack of responsibility on the OP's part in guiding his thread in a manner condusive to the subject matter.
Yes it seems the problem is even worse in Ireland, both north and south. I'm just not sure why so many young people are desperate enough to take their own lives. I grew up in the 50's and early 60's and I dont remember anyone, young or old taking such measures. Looking back, paticularly to the 50's, we had comparatively nothing, even the clothes on our backs were most often worn out or hand me downs. We didn't even have a television, which perhaps paradoxically is a clue to where the problem has it's roots. We had nothing but we knew no different, we had nothing to compare to, that was our world and we laughed and cried as children do. No celebrities to compare to, except perhaps film stars we saw at the cinema. Even pop stars were so distant from us, a crackly sound coming out of an old valve radio didn't influence us most. You can see where I'm going with this. It seems to me that, ironically, the more we have and the ability to communicate instantly through modern technology, the more disturbed society, young people in paticular seems to become.
I joined C.A.L.M. some years ago and get their newsletters regularly. I've also made donations to what I believe is a very worthwhile organisation. I'm sure that over the years they have helped countless, mainly young people and prevented many suicides. In fact it was this organisation that was responsible for alerting the government to the appauling number of young lives, (mainly men) lost through an 'epidemic' of suicides in the UK over the past few years
It sickens me that people can turn this into some kind of joke and see is as an amusing topic to make fun of.
RE: Who's your favorite less-recognized singer?
