RE: French move closer to revolution

No they didn't. They said they prefer Macron over Marie Le Pen after both came out closely ahead of a 4 way contest. And when it came down to a 2 way Le Pen lost by a margin of 3 to 1.

I dont see Le Pen changing that any time soon.

RE: To tell Comforting lie or Hurtful truth...why?

I've been called a blunt truth teller by lots of people in my life, but I know sometimes its better not to know the truth.

Like. for example, if a doctor detects that a 70 year old man has Prostate cancer. The doctor knows that they odds are that something else will kill the man before the Prostate cancer even begins to be a problem for the man as at that age cancer spreeads extremely slowly. He also knows that the treatment for the cancer will shorten the mans life and make the rest of his life full of pain and discomfort. So, does the doctor

(a) Tell the man, knowing that is will make the guy anxious and that he is likely to insist on having it removed even though this will shorten his life, or

(b) tell the guy that the tests are all clear, knowing that the mans quality of life will be better because of the lie.

Personally I would go with B.

RE: Atheist's Algorithm

Cogito ergo Sum. I perceive, therefore I am. Descartes talked about this hundreds of years ago, and you think you are smart as you are thinking of it now.

Its the basic flaw in the "demand proof" people. The only think you can be absolutely 100% totally sure about is that you, yourself, exist. Because even though you could be a brain in a jar wired up to have everything you are perceiving being transmitted to you by a scientist or computer program, the fact that you are perceiving everything means that YOU exist, otherwise there would be nothing to perceive what you are perceiving.

That's it. By your own massive standards of proof, nothing can exist. Ifd you are allowing for other things to exist and yet have that high standard just for God, you are a complete hypocrite, having totally selective standards on everything.

Enjoy living like that and calling yourself somehow "smart." I'll try and have a consistent standard, thank you.

Well, he is married to Melania.

On the other hand, he seems to have been a bit wistful about not hopping on his future rival.

"Hillary Clinton I think is a terrific woman,” he told Greta Van Susteren. “I am biased because I have known her for years. I live in New York. She lives in New York. I really like her and her husband both a lot. I think she really works hard. And I think, again, she’s given an agenda, it is not all of her, but I think she really works hard and I think she does a good job. I like her" Interview in 2012

RE: Trump economy.....vs. that of affirmative action Obama's...

Things have changed since last July, Charles.

Not that it was accurate to begin with. The Second Quarters Growth was nowhere near the top quarter recorded by Obama, for example. And the third quarter's growth is way down, due almost entirely to Trumps Tariffs wrecking American trade.

Also 2018 is heading to be a negative year for the stock market, meaning that it will finish up down on the beginning of the year by a few thousand points, first time that;s happened since the first year of Obama's term.

But hey, at least American farmers are letting their crops rot in the fields, that has to count for something, right?

RE: Governor Jerry Brown agrees with Donald Trump about the California fires

I don't see where Brown told Trump he was right. He just said that the way forests are managed was "an Element" of a lot of factors. This is a transcript of Brown on "face the Nation." right after the Trump visit.

GOV. BROWN: Well you're asking how they got out of control- how they started is now a subject of investigation. But obviously some fire source got it going and then it- the conflagration occurs because the brush, the vegetation is so dry and the humidity is so low. And when you have that- that and then the heat and the use of drought that gets it going. And in Paradise there were a lot of buildings that also caught fire and then it just went from one to the other. So it's a mixture of many things. And the president's talked about how our forests are managed, that's an element but there's also the way the houses are built, the materials, what kind of vegetation is around. And there there's also the changing climate and the increasing drought and the lower humidity and water vapor. All of that is combining to create the tragic situation that we saw today in both Northern California and here in Southern California.

MARGARET BRENNAN: As you- as you, say the president did acknowledge that he said climate change might be a factor, "a little bit" but he primarily blamed forest management as the cause here. Is California to blame here for its own problems?

GOV. BROWN: Well where Paradise is, of course, is surrounded by federally managed land. These are national forests. They are not state parks and they're not private property by Californians so it is the federal government. And the fact is that managing the forest is part of it. They are a lot denser than they were 200 years ago. But on top of that, we have this five year drought. We have reduced rainfall. We have the dryness that turns vegetation and bushes and houses and trees into- literally into timber. So it was ready to explode. So there- there is an atmospheric element which is part of the natural cycle and then there is an increasing effect of climate change. In fact, I have read, specifically peer reviewed scientific articles that say that the amount of- of land burnt in California over the last 15 years has doubled because of climate change, so--

MARGARET BRENNAN: Did you make that case to President Trump?

GOV. BROWN: I certainly raised it but I didn't feel that that was where we needed to go. We need the money. We need federal help and we need a collaborative and cooperative spirit and we're getting that. But I did say that we're going to look at all the elements that are causing these fires over time and we're going to work in a way to let science be our guide and the president in no way negated that. So I decided to go for an opening and I think over the next months and years you'll see the science becoming crystal clear and even the folks in Washington that are now more in the denialist camp are going to come around.

MARGARET BRENNAN: We'll see on that one. You did say there the federal funds were coming. Did President Trump assure you that he's not going to cut funding as he had threatened to do?

GOV. BROWN: Yes. So that's a big, big win. The president not only has signed a presidential declaration giving California substantial funding, but he said and pledged very specifically to- to continue to help us. That he's got our back. And I thought that was a very positive thing. There have been some back and forth between California leaders and the president. But in this- in the face of tragedy people tend to rise above some of their lesser propensities. So I think we're on a good path, but it's still going to be difficult because the only way to ensure the long term forest health is not just, you know, cutting trees it's going to require reducing carbon...

this is a response to the above

RE: Stopping birth right citizenship

Nope. His Grandfather left Germany Illegally when he was 16, and to avoid military service. He later tried to go back and Germany told him to leave, they didn't want him back. He even wrote a letter begging not to be deported from Germany.

And Trumps new rules would have kept his Grandfather out of the USA.

Plus Trumps wife began working illegally on a tourist Visa when she first arrived.

And for Trump's Mother, her actual legal or illegal status is uncertain. But in this document from 1940 she marked herself as naturalized despite the fact she did not naturalize till 1942. Which I dont care about but you would be screaming about FRAUD if it was anyone else

Trump quietly slithers away from a fight again.

Besides, its not like Trump actually dislikes Acosta being there. After a fight with Acosta everyone is always talking about TRUMP!!! which is really what he wants. Trump is not physically capable of not calling on Acosta because it guarantees acres of coverage when he does.

Acosta is more than happy to play along, of course.

Oh, and back to Benghazi, I actually personally knew Sean Smith. Not well, as we only spoke a few times over voice comms, but I knew him. Fantastic guy. This was not just a name on a page used to kick politicians for me. I knew his voice. I heard his laugh.

And Clinton had zip and nothing to do with the mans death.

As Obama said himself, the buck ultimately stops at Obama as CNC. But there were factors as well, such as the Republican house voting 6 months before to slash security funding at Benghazi after the US embassy specifically requested half a million more money for security.
