RE: Towering inferno in England

And yet I'll bet every one of these flat has had an annual landlords gas safety check which is basically a sly taxc on landlords. Now these inspections might save a few lives but the same expense invested in the NHS and not insulating your buildings with napalm would save many many more.

It would be much better for the country to tax people directly and cut of the middleman, a lot of these regulations which bring in the private sector stink to high heaven and don't even work.

RE: Signs Exploding In Last Days

A long time ago people would live through their children and that was the continuity between past and future. There was little inter-generational conflict before the fast-food culture of instant gratification and in the past the main duty of a father of a family was to look out for his own children, the main drive was to create a better life for your children. But today the opposite is the case. In the minds of many a greying baby the world will end when they end; they equate the end of themselves with the end of the world and at best there is no responsbility to anything which comes after and at worse they aim to curse everyone and everything that still has a stake in this world.

RE: Signs Exploding In Last Days

Things are at a stalemate today between the living and the kept alive. If you look into Trump politics it's all about averting catastrophe, escaping doom - avoiding death! It's the living purgatory of the elderly where death stalks you at every turn united with the forgotten and damned of the earth - that's what right-wing populism is. It's going through the motions of this life - whatever remains of it - and you don't care if the entire world burns.

RE: Signs Exploding In Last Days

Nature never intended for people to live until 90; Life is very long. The world isn't coming to an end, but the dead do walk the earth(metaphorically speaking).

RE: Your favourite era of music

The insufferable music of the 1980s achieving new levels of mediocrity in sound. Something happened in the decade of Rambo films, shoulder pads, credit cards and shopping malls - I'd describe it as giving up on personality and everything became a transaction - and society defaulted on the lowest common denominator serving the tackiest instincts of a mass market. The new love for capitalism arrived with that commercial, manufactured sound in music which would eventually evolve into the X Factor - the ultimate spirit of mdoern capitalism; the aspirations of the 99% talentless, misguided dickheads for some reason believing they are themselves in the 1% of misunderstood genius. They started to support 1%er politics because of this inflated self-appraisal but this did not mean that society was run by the 1% of misunderstood genius.

RE: What is your most attractive about your face?

A jawline you can set your watch by - physiognomy is real. I never go out without being asked to run into a burning building or rescue a cat. With great jawline comes great responsibility.

RE: Tattslotto

Own my own home, employ someone on a regular basis and train them up with the qualifications and experience to run my business for me, and then I want to be a psychologist who does engineering on the side.

My greatest dream is political, arranging this post-scarcity economy where the average man can be paid for drinking margarita through a curly plastic straw.

RE: If you were to reproduce ...

Irrelevant. I won't be telling her where I live anyway.

RE: It`s every Americans right to bear arms. Do you think this law should be repealed or not?.

Dissolve America. The south can be a oil-dependent and deeply religious desert where lazy people wander around with weapons like they do in Saudi Arabia. Progessives tried to push things too far, leave your opponents to themselves and their own fight with evolution, then you fight the winner.

Some people are really good at reading between the lines but real life is impromptu. I'd still gleam more from what you say in person because it must be off the cuff.

RE: The Declaration of Independence

The 4th of July is to patriotism what Valentine's Day is to love. One of the Americans many and varied attempts to manufacture a soul, they are the original plastics Facebook didn't come from nowhere.

RE: The Declaration of Independence

They inject a lot of romance and emotion into it, but really American independence and patriotism have only ever been about dodging taxes. Don't mistake any of it for faith or passion, it as transparent as it is one-dimensional.

RE: Best Star Trek Captains

And of course the captain after that was a black man, and the one after, a woman. How grimly predictable. Will they ever learn?

RE: Best Star Trek Captains

Picard although every other character in that version was worse.

I see in Star Trek the story of progessivism, it's basically communist and what began as a camp and cheery movement in the 1960s gew up to be full-on nerdo by the 1990s.

RE: weight loss

Plus you sound educated enough to manage a recreational drug habit for weight loss purposes. This wouldn't be an option for people less middle class than you - builders and blacks for example - so make the most of it.

RE: weight loss

You love cake so much that you've turned to acid for the answer and not even the right kind of acid. If you were serious you'd drop some tabs and go on a three-day drugs binge, then you'd lose weight. You wouldn't even have to do it very often.

RE: dooms day .... which known listed threat can and should be resolved first?

And we are resolving these through Brexit and Trump which act as pressure relief valves to release all of the hot air out of generation me. They need to do their James Dean rebel without a cause bit and we're just in for the ride. When the ride is over, and assuming they haven't got us killed, we can then deal with education and the economy and whatever problems the environment brings up.

Remember that we come from people who faced tremendous odds again and again, we were the greatest peoples on earth before the baby boomers and still can be. Within our civilisation is a genius and a spirit unequalled in the history of mankind, and it was once said that the only way we can match the power of our enemies was to become authoritarians ourselves. Now they were wrong before and it will be wrong again.

RE: dooms day .... which known listed threat can and should be resolved first?

The greying babies. Our economically illiterate elders who having lived a life six social classes above the going rate is set to retire a mere 3 social classes above that rate and is so pissed off it may even vote for a fascist, a fascist or at the very least another round of pawning the family silver to finance a jolly like they did in the 1980s.

RE: Man or woman,Up in a pedestal.

When the truth is that very often the only reason a man idealises a woman so much is because he's desperate. Is she really worthy of all this praise and respect? Or do you just really fancy her? These are the questions you need to ask yourself.

RE: Man or woman,Up in a pedestal.

Who might you put on a pedestal? A hero. And that's a lot pressure to put on somone, particularly someone who is a woman.

RE: What was your favourite subject at school? (even if you didn't like school)

Drama, music and art. Dancing about and singing, making pictures out of seashells and glitter - that's not a real education, that's what we'd have done if the teacher wasn't in the room.
