It is acceptable in my book for the following reasons:

When someone crosses the line with me it is time for me to take time away from that person. Be in reality or virtually.

When someone no longer respects me. Nobody needs anyone in their life, even more so when they clearly demonstrate this in their behaviour.

When I am just a tool for their purposes. Amusement, venting, last option.

If life was that simple plenty of people would no longer be single. A person may not have great looks,but if they don't make an effort with their appearance what is the point?

You can have a great character and personality but looking scruffy, unkempt is also telling the person you don't care about yourself. There are plenty of people that adopt the attitude take me as you find me. Well as much as I am attracted to personality and character. I still need to see you make an effort to look after you.
