RE: What do you believe in to be true

Yeah, that is true. There are different experiences with NDE's, and many of those experiences were related to one's strong beliefs of God/no God, heaven/hell, and many had no experienced. However, there are many common threads among the different types of NDE's experienced which can be categorized.
The point is that there is no instrument to measure or predict exactly how and in which different directions consciousness transits after death and what kind of experience shall arise.

As far as your last question Zien, I would give an honest answer of what I experienced and the progression of your logic does not entirely suggest that "all" people will go with the majority. I do agree that maybe perhaps some went with the majority if their experience was unclear and they attached to previous ideas that are out there. Anyways, I am not trying to sell you anything here and I don't have any need to change your mind. Just exchanging thoughts here.wine

One last thing, I just wanted to past a quote from Stuart Hameroff MD since he sums it up good:

"Modern science is unable to explain NDEs/OBEs, and ignores and derides such reports as unscientific folly or hallucination. But modern science can't explain normal, in-the-brain consciousness. Despite detailed understanding of neuronal firings and synaptic transmissions mediating non-conscious cognitive functions, there is no accounting for conscious awareness, free will or 'qualia'- the essence of experienced perceptions, like the redness, texture and fragrance of a rose. Philosopher David Chalmers refers to this as the 'hard problem' - explaining qualia and the subjective nature of feelings, awareness, and phenomenal experience - our 'inner life'. Unable to explain consciousness in the brain, it is easy to see why conventional science ignores out-of-body, or after-death consciousness, rejecting even the possibility of their occurrence.

RE: What do you believe in to be true

You should always be skeptical of any claim, then if it really raises your curiosity, investigate from a broad range of sources to make an educated decision.

I am a strict adherent to science, but at the same time, I do question empirical science in many ways. After all, science never stands still, and many theories and hypothesis that were once ridiculed and violently opposed turned out to be empirical truth.
So I do everything in my power to double check myself and make sure I am not going down the road of faith. Lets just say that I like to be on the cutting edge of a new frontier---like I would have believed that the Earth actually rotated the sun instead of the opposite back in the day haha.

Also, I do view other species such as animals and plants to be immortal as well since they are energy with a different form of consciousness and intelligence. My view does not have anything to do with religion, but I do like Eastern philosophy's ideas about immortality---and science is currently investigating many Eastern spiritual beliefs and there is good progress relating to some concepts like non-duality.

Anyways, I know I hold a very non-materialist and non-dualistic view about reality, and that it may seem out there, but there is good support out there for this view. The field of Quantum Consciousness studies is pretty sound, and surely not faith based. If you are curious, here you go...

RE: What do you believe in to be true

True about the slamdunk proof, but science does not yet have the necessary tools to show in some kind of equation of mathematics or parapsychic process to empirically demonstrate this. However, science is approaching this by the hour. The kind of evidence out there provides sound circumstantial evidence for the survival of consciousness. That was just one article, and the lady who did the review has not fully delved into the subject judging by her response and only focusing on a fragment of the research---she is not aware that there are horrifying NDE's in which people have a hard time living their lives.

There will always be criticism and skepticism about this due to the nature of the phenomenon and with the lack of cutting edge tools to actually monitor how consciousness moves on after death.

Who knows, maybe perhaps one day if we do have these tools, then maybe it will be proved that there is no continuation after death. In any case, with all the circumstantial evidence out there dating back to Carl Jung, it does seem very rational to believe that there is life after physical death---it has nothing to do with faith.

RE: forgiving in order for a heart to mend!

Forgiveness is healthy and a way to move on. More importantly, if you can forgive yourself first, then it's much easier to forgive others. Forgiveness is a sign of maturity and understanding---as hard it may seem at times. Also, forgiving and detaching from somebody is also a good approach if a person constantly brings disharmony to your existence. You can forgive, but you don't have to keep them in your lives.

RE: Your ex

Uhmmmm, like talk with her and listen to her. Help her in any way, and call those close to her and inform them. Maybe call the suicide prevention hotline. I wouldn't take it lightly.

RE: What do you believe in to be true

Ughh, I can see how this may not be clear. What I mean is that if we are aware of how much this lifetime counts as far as fulfilling a certain theme or journey we chose to experience, and realizing how our actions may carry over(Karma) to the next lifetime or existence, then perhaps we would live our lives differently in a more profound way with greater purpose instead of just not caring. We are all here to learn and overcome and find our sense of harmony and love. Some of us don't learn our lessons and others do---and this has a lot to do with how a soul would like to move on within existence in order to experience all that is. There is much more I can expand on, but I'll stop here for now.

Anyways, this is my view of this, and I am not trying to sell this to anybody. Search for yourself, then make up your own mind after proper investigation.

RE: What do you believe in to be true

Earth is not the only place that one may experience a physical existence in a particular vibration---or world construct.

I think if we knew beyond a doubt that we are immortal, we would indeed value our lives to a greater degree---because we would be aware of how much impact our choices and actions have in our lives in this lifetime now. In fact, a percentage of people who have died momentarily and came back, have reported that having a NDE experience truly changed their lives in a positive way. There is a vast amount of research on this matter....

RE: What do you believe in to be true

I should point out that the term "God" in the post I made is not in any way the Biblical God with a white beard who sits up in the clouds on his throne and controls everything.

Anyways, I gotta get in my workout and then I have a conference to attend to. I'll be back to express my own thoughts and words of this concept and expand on it.

RE: What do you believe in to be true

And what proof do you have to invalidate NDE's?

RE: What do you believe in to be true

Wrong link, here it is:

RE: What do you believe in to be true

This sums up my view:

"What or who is God? The answer lies within yourself. YOU create and manifest the reality you perceive as external around you, and you are responsible for what is happening in your universe.

Every thought, emotion, fear, lust and so on that you have will in turn affect the Universe - The Universe is Mental, and it was created and still is being created by the "Word" - the Thought / Mind. Everything exists within The All - God - You. Do not search for God somewhere outside yourself, look within yourself to find Heaven and freedom.

Everything External is a result of what you have Internal - in your Mind.

So what does this mean, and what am I trying to show you here?

Let me give you another example: Within your body exists huge amounts of cells, atoms, dna etc that makes up your being. And as most people know, with just one sample of microscopic dna you have a blueprint of yourself. Within the DNA exist your whole being, and thus it is possible to make a clone, a direct replica, of yourself from this DNA. This too can go on for infinity, by cloning the clone and so on, as the DNA will always be a direct copy of the original source DNA.

All over nature, and the universe, you find this pattern of infinity within a set finite system, whether it is the geometrical patterns of a snowflake, a seashell, or galaxies of the universe.

The endless and boundless exists within that which has an end and bound, thus both infinity and finity is co-existing and depending on eachother.

So we have then shown that endless creations can fit into a construct of set limits. Creation can continue growing for all eternity without ever exceeding the set boundaries of Existence - and here comes my point, think of the circle mentioned above as God, and the hexagrams within and Creation.

Everything exists within the Mind of the All, that which is God, and within God endless amounts of creations are possible, and the very fingerprint of how God functions is here all around us, within us, and indeed we ARE God and the Creators of the Universe.

Just as the First Cause in the examples above was the Circle, and everything within the circle could only exist because of the circle and thus is a part of the circle, so is God the First Cause of Existence, and everything that is must thus be of God, and in turn connected to the Godly Powers, and through the replication process just shown we all have God himself Within Ourselves. This understanding makes us omnipotent, able to do whatever we dream of, and create ourselves the very exact Universe we want.

We just have to become aware of God within us, and realize that we in fact create everything we perceive around us, whether we are aware of it or not. When we become aware of how creation functions, and that it originates from ourselves, we can be in control of that which happens in our own Universe.

Everything is subjective because we create all ourselves, and your Universe is not the same as anyone elses Universe, and what you perceive is not perceived the same way by anyone else existing within your Universe.

Confront and understand your Enemy, and you will confront and understand yourself."

RE: why are we living ?

Change does not magically happen by itself you know.

Agreed on the curiosity part---our eyes or minds wanting to see what they have never seen---delving into the unknown. Only in the unknown can we expand and break away from limiting thought and realities.

RE: why are we living ?

And then we have a new beginning to the same tragic end here in this cyclic realmlaugh Well, supposedly that is just one of many realties. Other alternate realities of existence supposedly break out of the that cycle and keep moving forward. dunno

I mean this right?

RE: why are we living ?

Yep! All part of all that is...thumbs up wine

Personally, I think we exist here in this realm on planet Earth to overcome the dark and be with the light---or to overcome every conceivable adversity/challenge and be aligned with our true selves---love, happiness, excitement, joy, and harmony---individually and collectively. We need to experience what we are not in order to realize what we truly wish to experience and be---individually and collectively.

And some of us choose to keep coming back over and over to get it right, or come from some distant place in the galaxy of a higher density/dimension/awareness/consciousness to help spread the light---and some of those souls do get caught up in the wheel of karma hahahadaisy

RE: Name someone you think is the best in posting Threads.

Thankscheers

And yes, it would be boring if we all thought the same since it would limit expansion of ourselves.

True, we live and learn---and seeing the other side of the coin is a first step to understanding views that are foreign to us. The main thing is to respectfully disagree with those views that are a polar opposite to our own. However, there does come a time to take a stand to views/actions that bring physical and emotional disharmony to our existence. In any case, listening and learning loosens up steel beliefs that keep us stuck individually and collectively. I've read some great posts in this forum, and have learned a lot of things from everybody---even when such views really bothered me or forced me to reconsider some issues.

Also mjames, you appear to be compassionate, reasonable, and calm today. They must have got your meds right finallylaugh Just kidding...

Are women the barometer of our culture?

This is inspired from a discussion I had earlier.

It was said that men are moral when women demand it. When women give up their power, then morals go downhill.

Thoughts?
