Without trying to start a war here. the OP is an American--and many Americans, well, they just don't understand that they are foreigners to the rest of the world, it's the rest of the world that is foreign.
Is it okay for the woman to propose? Or, men, would you prefer to be the one to propose? Honestly, women, would you propose instead of waiting for the man to propose?
One summer morning, years ago, when I woke up, I found that I, my cat, and my dog were all lying in a perfect circle, foot to nose, tail (dog/cat) to nose, nose to head, etc., on the white sheet, in a flood of sunshine. A mandala which expressed my domestic life at that time.
I agree with you completely. We, the West, are behaving in a very complacent way about this and other behavior of the Chinese government. Acceptance, hypocracy--these are earlier threads here in which most people replied that they never do it! What BS--everybody is doing it: if we acted on what we believe in, we would not be hypocritical and we would not accept the status quo. Why people are not protesting, governments, the UN, individuals, about China not allowing aid to these people is something I don't get either. Instead, we all sit complacently in front of our televisions accepting the situation and worrying about the price of oil because it may make the celery cost a few cents more.
I don't think you have understood the question. Who will vote or has voted for whom is not the question, nor is why someone might or might not vote for a candidate, based on any criteria; in fact, the question has nothing to do with voting at all, but, rather, with perception, i.e., public persception of the man who is president and if his race will color that perception in any way, as it seems to, so far, at least from media reports, have colored the perception of him as a candidiate.
Of course, your second paragraph makes much sense.
RE: are foreign women better than amercan women?
No ma'am, he don't realize that idee...
