Reply, politely but firmly to this girl saying that you've already bought this non-refundable ticket and that you're coming over to London anyway.
Also say that you can fully understand her feelings and that you are happy to accept how she feels.
Then come to London and treat it as a nice mini-holiday for yourself.
Do you have your accomodation booked?
If you know no-one in London apart from this girl - you may want to politely ask if she can introduce you to her social scene / spend some time with you as a platonic friend so that you're not on your own in this big city - which can be a very lonely place if you don't know anyone.
If she refuses, you can always go to the Hippodrome at Leicester Square - or some other similar disco - to meet a few other fellow tourists.
Oh, and it's better that she's dumped you now than you getting married and finding out 5 years later that she doesn't really love you, or that you're not really compatible.
When I was a youth I thought that taking my litter home was uncool. Dropping litter showed that I wasn't frightened of police / park wardens / "do-gooders".
But then I grew up a bit and realised that I didn't like seeing other people's litter. So I stopped being a litter-bug.
If I had to change into an animal, then I would lose the power of conscious thought and would therefore cease to exist. All that would have happened is that I would have been destroyed and another creature with some resemblance to me would have been created.
This is a bit like the transporter in Star Trek that I would never use. All the transporter does is kill you and create an exact clone of you in another place.
But if I had a choice what animal would be created in homage of my execution I'd probably name something like:
a PHYTOPLANKTON.
These animals never do anyone any harm and they sit at the bottom of the food chain.
Ask me the question at another time and I'll probably come up with a different answer.
KINDATHEART, IT'S NATURAL TO HAVE A GOOD CRY WHENEVER ANY RELATIONSHIP FALLS APART.
AFTER YOU'VE HAD A GOOD CRY YOU MIGHT LIKE TO ASK YOURSELF: DO YOU REALLY LOVE THIS MAN? DOES THE FACT THAT HE IS PRONE TO DEPRESSION WORRY YOU? DID HE REALLY LOVE YOU, OR WERE JUST THE FIRST PERSON THAT CAME ALONG THAT WAS WILLING TO LISTEN HIM AFTER THE BREAKDOWN IN HIS MARRIAGE?
AND MAYBE THE BIGGEST QUESTION: DO YOU THINK YOU CAN FIND A BETTER MAN ELSEWHERE?
IF, AFTER ASKING ALL THESE QUESTIONS, YOU FEEL AS IF THIS MAN IS THE MAN FOR YOU THEN YOU COULD TRY USING THE SAME EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL TACTICS THAT HIS WIFE'S USED TO GET HIM BACK.
IF NOT THEN IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE YOU FIND ANOTHER MAN THAT WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH MORE LONG TERM HAPPINESS THAN THIS MAN COULD.
YOU ARE A WONDERFUL PERSON. YOU DESERVE A WONDERFUL MAN TO SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH.
It wouldn't have been a fiance visa. One of them would have required a lot of documents from you.
Did she discuss with you, how and when she was going to get her visa? Or did she just seem to magically get one?
Or did she have one from very early in your correspondance or even before your correspondance started?
The British and American embassies have a fearsome reputation amongst Russian people, due to the number of Russians, especially attractive single women who get visa applications refused.
Did she talk about getting her visa? How she'd been to the British Embassy and got her visa?
If not, then your correspondence with her was all a joke at best, or a subtle scam at worst.
There's no point in arranging flight details till you've got your visa.
Any Russian seriously planning a trip to the UK would know that you arrange your visa first. That this is the most difficult thing to do and that success is not guaranteed. If you get your visa you then sort out your flights.
Yes, it's worth a try. But something like 90% of the active members will be men. The 10% of women members will get a lot of attention from the men.
You could also try searching for members of this site who live in parts of the world where there's more of an outdoor activity culture. EG the Alps, Eastern Europe, the Andes, Utah...
But I feel even more sorry for all the people who die tragically young from accidents, or murder, or natural causes and who never had the good luck to become rich and famous on preciously little talent or ability.
The real tragedy is that medical science is neither as advanced nor as cheap and as widely available worldwide as it should be...
Either Diana was assasinated or it was a tragic road accident.
If it was an assasination attempt, it wasn't a very good one as she probably would have survived if she'd worn a seat belt. Must be a lesson in there for the rest of us?
I don't think we'll see a black King of England, Scotland and Wales in our lifetimes. But who knows what will happen in the next 1000 years?
Can you clarify exactly what you mean by "DECENT", innocentangel33?
If by that, you mean a man who will fall in love with you and who deserves your love, then there is. It's just that you might find a lot of unsuitable men until you find the right one. Or there again, the next man you meet might be the one for you. That's the nature of life and love - no-one can predict what or who's around the corner...
