Give it a rest ,your ego is about to trip you up old man.
I seem to recall you saying that Jersey had it's own electricity company so couldn't get cut off on one of your threads . Did you research that little gem.
I tend to think that egoists usually think they are something special, whereas someone with pride is usually taking that line because they might be proud of an achievement or goal that they have set themselves, and I like to think that their pride comes from a good heart, rather than an inflated ego.
I guess people thought that cutting the strings attaching us to the E.U. would solve a few issues, but it would seem that we have made some matters worse.
There are many issues across the World that need attention to enable a secure future for humanity in general. Just my take on things .
I don't think there is a solution Jac. The P.M. needs to take total control our fishing waters as this has always been a stumbling block with Brexit. Jersey has the right to question the history of French fishermen within their waters which is why they are protesting. It was the French fishermen themselves that demanded Jersey's electricity supply be cut, which in itself is deplorable .
The EU will use any excuse to cause Britain problems over many issues, such as trying to block our vaccine deliveries etc.
My remark re immigration was a tad tongue in cheek but a volatile subject none the less.
The French fishermen were responsible for ferrying many immigrants, especially, Albanians to these shores at one time or were you not aware of that fact.
Isn't it amazing that the French can try to blockade Jersey fishing boats in St. Helier, yet are unable to stop immigrants from leaving their shores to come to the U.K.
Ah I see . Thought you were just looking at it from the Brexit angle.. Typical of the French Government to pull a stunt like this, but highly unlikely that they will be able to bring it into force and cut the supply. Bullying tactics at their worst.
Around 95% of the electricity we supply is imported from low carbon, hydro (34%) and nuclear (66%) sources in France through three undersea supply cables. These cable links have given us the ability to virtually completely de-carbonise Jersey’s electricity supply.
This really is the main issue with regards this blockade. Fishing rights are and will be a bone of contention as Europe is responsible for the depletion of much of the fishing stock in our oceans.
We in the UK should stand by Jersey and EVERY EDF customer in the UK should change suppliers if the French blockade any Channel island. The French government are the largest investors in EDF and we don't need their bullying tactics here.
It's not the French fishermen who will bring Jersey to it's knees but the threat of the cutting of the underwater electric cable supplying electricity to the islands ,details of which have been omitted from this report.
I would love to ,and not from any religious point of view, just to be able for him to let go of all the pain, but it's not my place as he is fighting to stay with his beloved wife.
I have a relative who has battled cancer for a year after being told that he had 3 months left and I am saddened by his illness, knowing it will beat him ,yet still he fights for the right to live and becomes weaker by the day.
I spoke with him on Monday and am saddened by the weakness in his voice, but who am I to tell anyone to let go of life.
Which is why I responded with my comment about time being short for some people. I've just lost someone to Covid ,which many on here consider to be a conspiracy theory or just a bad case of flu.
Never know any of my friends to be on a ventilator for 3 weeks with a bad case of flu , then taken off when there is no hope .
As I originally stated, time is a short commodity for some humans.
RE: Ego And Pride - The Comparison
I feel that ego is feeling superior to others .. I take pride in myself and my achievements but that does not make me feel superior to others.
