I have the morning news in the background. They had segment on Michele Obama, the new First Lady. Gorgeous in looks and gorgeous as a person. Wow, again. What a wonderful couple couple they make. And both such intelligent people. How refreshing.
On a much smaller scale, they are likened to our new Prime Minister here in Australia, Kevin Rudd, and his wife Terese, who runs multi million dollar emplyment/recruitment services companies, both here and in the U.K. And they are young, and have a fabulous relationship. Hugely inspiring!
But a fabulous outcome for the U.S. and the world. Such positivity in the air.
Oh, dear, they are showing 'Bushisms' on TV right now!
Yet, with all the obstacles that are ahead for the President elect, many Americans (yes, including some Republicans) and the world, have been given a renewed sense of hope and optimism as this wheel of history, yesterday turned and made a stop at Barack Obama.
The dawning of a new era. And may this also mean less young men and women having to die in needless wars, as we look towards a more cooperative coexistence in this world.
Oh, but the entire world sees his colour. THAT is the wonderful thing. And that is what has stamped 4th November 2008, so firmly into history. But in electing Barack Obama as President of the U.S., people disregarded his colour.
But that is NOT what got him elected. We all know that. But his colour so prominently and beautifully stands out. And all Black Americans in particular, appreciate the incredible symbolic nature of this achievement. JMO.
I would never have thought any of this was ever an issue. People are people. Of-course I would not treat that person in any way that is different from someone of a smaller size. How lovely it also is, as I look on and see my son who turns 23 in three weeks, relates equally comfortably to women of any size. He can form good friendships with them irrespective of size. And I can tell you, some of them have been very large young ladies, lol. I am proud of him for many things. And that is definitely one of them.
I still would like to wish you both all that you hope for and more, for when you meet soon. You seem obviously pretty committed to each other already, irrespective of not yet meeting face to face. To the degree that you can be, it is still lovely that you have chosen to share that with us here. I applaud you for doing that.
No Shiraz yet But thanks for reminding me. Might just go and enjoy one such glass with my meal at the local hotel near my workplace. Great idea, thank you!
The "Jackie-O's" (interesting, someone else referred to them as that, but they are not the right size. JO's are MUCH bigger, but I digress). Sorry, can't oblige. I purchased them in Italy on my recent trip there. They are Miu Miu's by Prada Milano. Shoulda bought some more. But can do that next year, when I expect to go back again. Happy to ship some to you from there!
Calculators not required, thank you. Hang on. If good quality, happy to take them off you and put a healthy mark up on them. Just write on there for customs that the entire value is only $10.00!!!
As Ocee pointed out, there are different stats, dDepending on electoral vote (landslide) or popular vote (non-landslide). As with all stats, I guess it depends on which one suits your purpose at the time, lol. I'm afraid that for me, this is where the fascination with stats ends regarding this issue
Keep on celebrating, you shouldn't be posting so much. Thought you were out dancing in the streets. I would be if I were there!
It is, and who would blame the U.S. people for being emotional in their voting in this occasion in particular!
Sometimes, it is hard to know when someone posts, if they are being cynical or not, especially when previous posts indicate that is their tendency. so my comment was made based on not knowing for sure what the 'landslide' actually actually referred to, and probably took it more as leaning to the 'cynical'. Glad to be wrong. I therefore definitely concede in this particular election it is regarded as a landslide!
To all you cool "cats" out there. What gives? I got word from CS that I am not allowed to post the photo of a landscape scene as my main pic. And that only photos of ourselves, clear ones at that, can only ever be posted as the main pic.
Surely they don't for one minute believe that you and many others on CS actually look like cats???
As far away as I am, geographically from the U.S., I nonetheless felt such a sense of pride.
Pride, because the global community has inherited a true leader, who will no doubt do his very best to contribute in making the world a better place for our children.
How refreshing that your new President embraced and included the broader global community in his acceptance speech. At last a U.S. President who can lead by example.
May those who could most benefit, hear his message.
Yes, I, too caught every word. I popped into my parents' on my way (finally) to work, and we ALL caught every word. We were mesmerized at the sense of occasion and absolute pride to know such things can and DO happen.
And "YES WE CAN" do anything we set our minds to do. The point has been proven today, beyond any shadow of a doubt!
RE: Say something to anyone and no need to mention the Turkey....... Thanksgiving style!!!!!
Trust you to want to 'bare' yourself on some thread or other!
