I don't rely on self-help books to lead my life. But they can help you figure things out. They can also help you figure out why other people act the way they do.
What is the attraction of metal in someone's face. I'm not talking about earrings or a diamond stud in the side of your nose. I'm tallking about tongue piercing. Rods through the eyebrows or checks. Metal loops through the lips. Where did this originate, and waht is the appeal. Frankly I find it to be a real turnoff. I just don't get it.
I see people spend gobs of money on gyms and recieve little benefit. So they quit and go back to old habits. Their trainers will tell them about healthy eating, but it seems that is the hardest thing to change. The change has to happen over time, or the body revolts. It took you years to get where you are, it will take time to reverse it. Patience is require and that takes inner strength, which many do not have.
You can workout till your eyes turn blue and recieve little results. 85% of weight loss are your eating habits. That will dictate how you look and feel. Exercise is important, but not as important as what you eat and when you eat. Start getting books on eating life styles and find the right one for you. I work out with light weights three times a week, and walk briskly 1 to 2 hours a day. In four years I went from 270 lbs to 210, where I am now. I consume about 1,000 calories a day. Your internal organs work harder the more you eat and what you eat. There fore they waer out quicker. The book, "Fit for Life" explains how we are made and what is best for us. It was a real eye opener for me. Remember, YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Good luck in your efforts.
Tam, there are alot of great teaching lessons online on how to play an instument. It does not matter if you are good at art, as long as you do it. Gardening is fun too. If you can get out of the house, there are alot of programs that need volunteers. Besides, it's a great way to meet people. I got bored , so I started working a second job. It is now working into something great. Goodluck to you.
Oh Snugs, quite a few. As far as waitig. I set up an appointment first thing in the morning so I could be in and out. I sat for an hour. Finally I went to the recep and reminded them I was still there. They said Doc had an emergency, that he just arrived. Half an hour later I finally got in. At the end of the visit i explained to the Doc about how long I waited. If the recp had told me you had an emergency I would have done a job and returned. Time is money and I wanted x amount of dollars subtracted from my bill. He complied. After that I only waited 15 mins to get in.
When I first moved to Maine I was recovery from a back injury. The Ins company sent me to a Nuerosurgen for a follow up. I sat in his office and listened to him on the phone with the realitive of another patient. He was so condecending and rude that I was shocked. When he hung up I stood, introduced myself and extended my hand. He refused to shake and told me to sit and let's get this over with. I told he is was a rude, arrogant jerk and said I would not even let him touch a flea on my dog and left.
My current Doc is great. She is genuinely concerned about me. She gives me several treatment options and lets me choose which one I think is right for me. I love her and will go nowhere else.
Becareful about what you put in your body, Lboy. Just because they sell it on TV, does not mean it is not harmful. It may get you up, but at what cost to your vital organs?
