RE: Are you romantic?

Romantic??

Maybe.

Definite maybe.

(With the right woman)

RE: can bad smell really destroy the perfectness of a gorgeous looking person?

Sometimes a smell can emanate from your clothes if they have been in a musty closet for a long time.

Bad breath usually results from not flossing, and not brushing the back of your tongue.

Odors are kind of an odd thing.... how some people do not detect them, and yet others are driven away by them. I think I have a pretty sensitive nose, and I am bothered by odors occasionally.

There is (I think) are certain soap (I guess) some women use that I can smell from a ways, and it is a turn off for me- it is very strong and kind of overwhelming

An unsttractive smell is hard to take, and from person you are thinking of maybe getting involved with, it is a real turn off for me.

But if I liked the person, and was wanting to get to know them otherwise, I think I would try to let them know, and get the issue on the table. Most people do not want to offend anyone with an odor that comes from them.

Actually, come to think of it, I have had to tell a few of my employees over the years, that I can smell an odor that apparently comes from them. That is kind of a hard thing to do, but you are doing the person a favor by telling them. You just need to choose your words and be careful how you tell them.
Imagine someone telling you the same thing.

RE: What worries you more?

I do not mean to offend, but I disagree......

The environment can recover, and has many times over the millenniums.

I have read about and seen instances of significantly polluted rivers and other environments that have recovered once the source of pollution was stopped.

The environment is very resilient in my opinion.

Are you referring to global warming?

If so, that is still a controversial issue regarding the cause of the warming IMO.

I am not convinced the cause is CO2.

Especially since the recent revelation of the pro global warming scientist's computer emails that showed slanted and distorted reporting on the warming of the planet.

I think the sun is warming the planet, just like it has off and on over the millenniums.

What worries me the most?

The movement by this president and this congress towards government intrusion in our lives, and more socialism here in the US. And once that is instituted, it rarely if ever can be repealed.

I know Europe and many other countries (Canada) accept their Socialism and big government, but I prefer a less intrusive government and individual liberties.

I have become afraid of the United States government.

RE: What are the Catholic's beliefs about salvation?

Basically,

If you want to condense what the Catholic religion teaches about how to be saved, in my opinion, it would be summed up in Jesus teaching of the great commandment, which really sums up all ten commandments:

Love God with all your heart.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

Now how this gets put into practice is the gray area, no doubt about it.

But that consists of our Lord's teaching about how to be saved.

Amen.

RE: Today's thought..............

BEAUTIFUL thought Amigo.

I am inspired, and I will try to practice that.

Thank you.

RE: Do you think blondes have more Fun?

I just think happy people have more fun.

As the saying goes, " life may not always be fun, but it can be funny ".

I love that.

RE: Love with woman

You probably will never know.

And when you think you do know-

you don't.

Just the way it frequently goes.

But not always.

RE: What is hunting for you?

For your information, the term "murder" only applies to the killing of human beings. You cannot 'murder' any animal.

But in your case, I wonder if you can make the distinction between a person and an animal.

Do you wear leather shoes? Do you take prescription medicine that has been tested on animals for safety?

If so, you should go kill yourself. (and that would be suicide)

RE: HEALTH CARE BILL PASSES!!!!

Just curious.... Why would you celebrate a US Health Care bill passing the house?

Are you an American?

RE: Hell...Lets play nice kids!

I like Bacardi arlright.

But sometimes you know...

I just like a rum and coke without the rum.

But when I really feel like enjoying a drink,

give me a vodka martini with 3 big olives.

RE: A great test see how you do................,? No peeking...............

That's a pretty good little test H.G.

And they threw in a few trick questions just for fun I guess.

Thanks for the post.

RE: Who Is The Sweetest

That's funny L.S.

I think all women are sweet.

Some may be a little more than others, but they all are 'Honeys".

(But then there is Sensual Vixen.... I don't know about her....)

RE: "Baby I'm Pregnant" !!!

Hopefully you will want to celebrate and buy cigars for all your amigos.

RE: this goes to far

The teachers unions have dumbed down schools today to an unbelievable level.

They have lost any and all common sense.

Sad.

Beyond sad.

Sick.

RE: My Name Is MUD.....

I meant to respond to Naked Mud People,

I thought it was kind of funny..... her name and the name of this thread.

RE: My Name Is MUD.....

Solsticemoon said her name is mud,

but in actuality,

I think,

YOUR name is mud!

And no mud slinging here either.

My Dad sometimes told me my name was Mud.

RE: HOW I DESPISE MY OWN IGNORANCE

I imagine practically every honest person would admit to despising our own ignorance at some point or another. Have not most of us felt ashamed for not knowing something at some point in life.

That is life.

I felt it more in my youth when I was more ignorant than I do now, but even now, there are times when I regret not being more informed on some thing or someone.

So goes the journey. I face my own limitations almost everyday.

RE: People Pleasers, Say "NO"!

Healthy Living,

When asked to do something you don't have time to do, try telling them:

Maybe.

Just maybe.

Or maybe not.

That will leave them wondering and 'maybe' they will take care of it themselves when they tired of wondering.

RE: Why do people hide their country of birth?

Let's see, Why do people hide their country of birth?....

I don't know....

So they can run for President of the United States??

Yeah that's it.

That is the Ticket!!

The Democratic Ticket.

RE: Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

The Norwegian Nobel Committee's credibility will likely be damaged by this. I think they were persuaded by Obama's ability to talk, as that is what he is best at.

As the test of time occurs, this Nobel committee will probably regret their hasty and foolish decision.

Especially when the US and Israel go to war with Iran over the issue of Nuclear weapons.

That will give the Peace committee something to ponder and sort through.

RE: Which horror movies do you think is the scariest

That WAS a scary movie!

Scariest movie I ever saw.

RE: Which horror movies do you think is the scariest

Funnnnneeee Funny.

I was not expecting that....

Ole' my friend.

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

Hard to know what the founding fathers would think/say regarding the firearms issue today. I think they expected the proliferation... essentially a weapon in every home.... but I don't think they expected the fire power that can be available today. And I tend to think they would be surprised at the crime issue today.... since in their time, a scoundrel's poor choices came back to haunt him pretty quick. Today, a person can live a lifetime of poor choices and not face the consequences of his decisions. In other words, frontier justice was swift and the problem was solved.

So, in your words, "the crime those firearms produce" is ironically, one of the prime reasons people should have available to them firearms for defense. Even out the balance.

And you know it's true that when firearms are outlawed, it is the criminals who will have them. Anywhere in the world, that firearms are controlled, there is the element that will smuggle them in, sell them on a black market, and arm the bad guys.

So, I tend to view it like ' war on drugs'....which has been a 30 + year effort and spectacular failure. I say don't try to eliminate illegal drugs... On the contrary, legalize them, tax them, regulate them, and let those who freely choose to take drugs take them. (And they will suffer the consequences, but that is what comes with freedom of choice.)

Switzerland has a law, that since they have no standing military, every household has a rifle. The government arms the population. And they have very little crime.

Regulations on firearms in the US are significant already: you cannot be a convicted criminal, you cannot have a history of mental illness, alcoholism or drug addiction, and there are limitations on the type of gun and ammunition you can purchase. Various cities and counties pose further regulations, some of which are currently being contested before the US Supreme court.

I really believe in a contrary approach to crime though: Every home in the US should be encouraged and trained to have a weapon. I believe the result would be a lot less crime. A significant number of criminals would disappear due to their occupational hazard, and the rest might conclude it is easier to work for some money instead of attempting to steal it and incur a gunshot wound.

The police would have many law abiding citizens to assist them in protecting people and keeping the peace.

And I think the Founding Fathers could give this their blessing because it encourages individual accountability and responsibility, tends towards justice and rule of law, and over time, helps insure a government 'by the people and for the people'. It also tends away from the government 'Nanny state', where the citizens rely on the government to do everything for them.

It is practical and affordable, despite sounding radical, and I realize it would take time to implement.

But eliminating firearms is not the solution. There are too many risks, and the solution does not work.

Just my opinion.

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

Sorry K M D, that I came across too strong. I apologize.

I did not know you were joking. I have debated this topic too many times in the past and had too many people throw false statements out as fact, in an effort (I guess) to spin or sway the debate.

I just want to argue the truth of the facts, not feelings, emotions, or fears. The 2nd amendment is and has been under attack in this country for a long long time, and it is a sore point.

As you can tell, I personally think it is a big thing that the citizens of the United States have the right to own firearms, and I have this belief for numerous reasons. Despite what the rest of world thinks or feels.

If an American does not want a gun in their house, fine with me. But why should they decide I cannot have a firearm in mine??

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

But that is the thing, if someone is bold enough to break into your property, not knowing if they will face you or not, and knowing that if they do face you and get identified and arrested for doing it, they will go to prison..... Then who knows what they might feel they have to do to not get caught??

I would not kill someone to protect property... but if someone illegally enters my home, then anything can happen and you could easily find yourself defending your life and health.

So..... that is the way I look at it and am thankful to have the constitutional right to protect myself if necessary.

There are a number of other considerations that play into the Right to Bear Arms, such as keeping our government "by the people and for the people", and other additional considerations.

If a person is trained and knowledgeable about firearms, there is nothing to fear about them. I think some of the illogical hysteria that is driving gun control originates from people who are just afraid of them because they are not knowledgeable about them.

They certainly can be dangerous in the hands of people who are not trained in the safe and proper use. But with training and education, there is nothing to fear about them. Just have to be safe and use your head with firearms.

But I realize that is a lot to ask sometimes.

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

That is simply not true!

How can you say that?

People kill people without guns every month.

Kids in Chicago just killed another kid with a large wood beam last week.

HELLO !?

You need to be realistic......

Do more thinking and less feeling.

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

That is fair enough.

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

I am wondering why you jokingly refer to it as 'Gunchester' ?

Guns are outlawed in the UK correct?

So, in Manchester, are there a lot of illegal guns or something?

I have never had to pull a gun to defend myself yet either. But as they say, 'be prepared'. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I don't have a crystal ball, and I don't know what the future holds. So I just try to be prepared. Like a good scout.

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

I know.

I have read some of your previous posts on the topic. But when we have been in the Canadian or Alaskan wilderness and come face to face with a Grizzly, or when you are in Toronto and find yourself face to face with an armed burgler (baseball bat, Bowie knife, illegal gun), it is great to have a handgun to sort things out.

In the US and Australia, when someone goes insane, takes a gun and starts shooting innocent people, whether that is a church, school, restaurant, university campus, if more people were armed and carried and knew how to use firearms, there could be many lives saved.

The police around the world are great at investigating crimes and arresting the culprit, but they cannot be everywhere. Consequently they cannot protect you. That is up to each and every one of us.

This year, since Australia outlawed firearms, crime is way up. Up by about 15% I think. And the politicians are flummoxed. The bad guys are bold when they know most people are unarmed.

But they are more careful in the US, since they don't where or which house they break into might give them a gunshot wound.

RE: Americans are viewed around the world as

Back in the 60's, I went on a Jeep trip with my Dad and two brothers up through Alberta, British Columbia, and the Yukon on the Alaskan Highway.

Very beautiful and wild country- we saw Grizzly bears, wolves, Moose and caught a lot of fish along the way. Camped out each night in a little canvass top trailer we pulled behind our 1957 Jeep CJ5.

I also have visited Montreal, Quebec.

The only disappointment I feel, is the lack of freedom Canadians have to arm themselves, and I think it is too bad Quebec chose to be French speaking. I just think Canada would be better off, in many ways, it it was not bi-lingual.

But that is just my opinion and that is just that.
