Here is what I have been able to find out since asking this question: there are far too many posts for the staff to audit every single one. When someone does complain, those threads/posts that are offensive to that reporter are looked at for content, as well as latest posts/threads began or participated in by the offending writer. If that writer has been "tagged' enough times, those threads/posts with his/her name on it are blocked or pulled, affecting all the people on that thread. I get it, and I agree that there does need to be some overseeing of it, but it is too bad that the folks who aren't offensive are dumped along with the ornery ones. (When I've asked about it, I've been told that it is not me, so that end of my concern is satisfied. I just don't like having to be so meticulous in what I say--kinda takes the "punch" out of the sponteneity (sp?) of the leisure/fun aspect of it. But the guys are right, it's a free site and if it becomes too much of a headache, well, it just ain't fun no more. Looking back through some of the threads I have NOT participated in, I see that this has happened, so won't 'personalize' this. We all get our feathers a little ruffled (boy howdy, it seems) but it shouldn't be a good reason to put up barriers. Just my thoughts...
Do you guys not get that it is the censorship of a topic of censorship? YES I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS NOT MY SITE. (Do y'all get a penny every time you bring that up, or what?) Besides, the moderator has replied to my question about blocking, etc... and it seems that it is usually a couple of writers near the end of a thread that stink it up for everyone else. I appreciate your comments, redundant though they may be.
Kind, warm-hearted, not a game player, good looking, considerate would be a nice start. Good grooming (no Grizzly Adams types). Sorry, but I refuse to cow-tow to your 'girls only' rule.
Hello my darlings--again. (s i g h . . . ) another thread has been locked (No! You don't say!) It's the one titled "In defiance of censorship" and my, my, my, isn't that ironic? you know, if it wasn't so goofy, I'd get irritated about it, but I guess I'm getting used to this. How can we have an open dialogue if everybody has to walk on eggshells and be so dang worried about what they say?A forum is just that, and sure, sometimes people don't like what is said, etc... well, like the t.v. just change the channel or find something else to do. Anybody else out there have any thoughts about censorship on a topic about censorship? This takes the cake, frosting, and candles.
Did you hear about the blonde who went into the public library? She walked up to the counter, and the clerk asked, "May I help you"? The blonde replied, "Uh, yeah.... I'll take a cheeseburger, a large fry, and a diet coke". The clerk, startled, asked, "My dear, do you have any idea where you're at?" The blonde looked around, saw the rows of books and people sitting at tables studying. It dawned on her. She leaned forward, and said, "Oh, I'm SO sorry"! Then leaning even closer, she whispered, "I'll take a cheeseburger, a large fry, and a diet coke".
Oh I know, "I git putt me lorrie an the garriage an' chop veg a tables on the kit' bench" and so forth. Once upon a time a friend told me that English guys that go to boarding school/college prep all seem to have, uh, certain experiences. Truth? or fable?
Anybody out there who might know--Are there other 'connecting' type sites that are no cost, as well. My time is limited on computer today so if someone could answer soon I'd appreciate it it. Thx!
"Don't get on that ship! It's a cookbook! A COOKBOOK!" I also liked the one where the boy could wish for whatever he wanted, and it would come true. (He turned a neighbor into a Jack-In-The-Box). That was such a cool series for its time.
Hey there--I don't know if you noticed, or if I'm just not seeing it all, but there seems to be only a couple of us in this whole merry-go-round even in Oregon, let alone regionalize us. I have friends in Milton-Freewater, Burns, so I've traveled there in my day. (Used to go to the Roundup all the time. I thought LaGrande was going to be this kind of little cosmos-in-the-desert. What a surprise. I half expected to see Matt, Doc, and Miss Kitty walk out of the Longbranch Saloon. (ha ha ha). Very Western. Very quaint. I did have a nice visit, though. So what can we do girlfriend, to get this "Oregon" forum show on the dang road? Ideas?
Have you read some of Maya Angelou's poetry? She really grabs the moment, as you do. You are a very sensitive man, HRL. That, by the way is an ASSET. You'll get a real good lady, I'm sure. Best To You. (read m. angelou--it's good).
Hey, just wondering--why do you want to tell that you're pants are down? I mean I'm O.K. with it and everything, a little, you know, (O.K., A LOT ha ha). Did you need some air, getting a little crowded in there? I've heard a couple of things about you guys up North, big stuff, I;m told. Wassup cowboy?
I can't get this post off my mind. Concerned for the welfare of the dog. Really, really don't like the idea of having made a promise and not keeping it. Bad karma, regardless. Never-the-less, the best end result has got to prevail. Can the friendship if that's what it takes. Be ready for crap. Who are these people? I know circumstances aren't always what they appear, but it would seem you could use a new or different circle of aquaintances. You're a good looking, intelligent, nice gal. Get on the stick, girlfriend.
Oregon has some very specific policies and procedures regarding rescue animals. What is your agreement with the shelter? That's what you need to look at first. The other side of the coin, of course, is a promise was made. Sticky, isn't it? Will talking with them help? How important is the friendship? Do YOU feel that a promise must be kept? Anyone else reading this--careful on making those promises. Choppy water, folks.
Double album came out in the 1970's (vinyl). A good "retro" record shop would be able to find it for you. This was when she was singing at Ken Threadgill's bar in Port Arthur, Texas in the very early 1960's. Yup, I'm somewhat of a Janis historian. Awesome talent.
"I don't want your lonely mansion, with a tear in every room Don't want your lovely promises, beneath a haloed moon, And you think I could be happy, with your money and your name, And hide myself in sorrow while you play your cheatin' game-
Silver threads and golden needles, cannot mend this heart of mine Oh I dare not drown my sorrows, in the warm glow of your wine You can't buy my love with money, I never was that kind Silver threads and golden needles cannot mend this heart of mine
(janis joplin sang this in her very early days in Texas)
You Will Never Guess What This One Is Going To Be....
