I've had to renew my long-expired British passport simply to register for a secure online government site that we need to use for work purposes
As a permanent resident I can vote, pay tax, hold an Australian drivers licence, etc etc but to type stuff I need to be an Aus citizen or have an Aus birth certificate, how ridiculous
Anyway I've decided I'll make use of that bad boy when I can afford it ...
My father died when I was 13 and I lost my mother when I was 39...
It's only now, when my children are 38 and 42 that I realise what a profound loss that was, particularly in terms of losing my mother, I thought I was a big girl, I organised her funeral and soldiered on
But really, I felt lost at sea, without a life buoy. .
I try not to think about their grief when I'm gone
