I can’t (about friendship)

I can’t always hear when your heart breaks
But I’ll provide comfort to help with the aches

I can’t be there to stop you from slipping
I will be there when you need uplifting

I can’t predict when you’ll lose your key
Soon with my tool box I’ll have you set free

I can’t assist you when facing your fears
I'd bring some tissues to dry up the tears

I can’t stop you before mistakes are made
I shall be the first to render you aide

I can’t bring life at the death of a friend
I’ll provide a shoulder and help you to mend

I can’t help but see you are my best friend
And I’ll always be there till the very end.

You Taught me .....

You taught me how to be a friend
And what a friendship brings
You showed on you I can depend
And didn’t attach some strings

You taught me to find inner peace
And a tranquil place was shown
And from my pain I find relief
But you didn’t even groan

You taught me all about compassion
Then I learned to weep
And filled me with a new found passion
But no money you would keep

You taught me all about romance
And set my spirit free
And now my soul begins to dance
But you didn’t charge a fee

You taught me how to fall in love
My eyes where opened wide
Everything that I’d dreamed of
Is you, walking by my side

I can't find what i'm looking for

I know that you are here
I sense your presence near
hidden from my sight
i’ll not give up my plight

I don’t know where you hide
but time is on my side
I’ll search the whole place through
Eventually I’ll find you

The world turned upside down
But I will never frown
I know that I will find
The one thing on my mind

At last I’ve found my quarry
I didn't need to worry
Now I am so pleased
I’ve found my bloody keys

WARNING - be honest on CS

Why have so many secrets
what do you have to hide
is it just your regrets
or is it that you lied

You talk so long and often
and plan a rendezvous.
Hearts begin to soften,
thoughts of what could ensue.

When things are left unsaid
and closets not unsealed
the folly when misled
soon will be revealed

The problem when you’re lying
is remembering all you said.
Soon to be sent flying,
caught out and left for dead

The moral of this poem is
it’s as easy as it seems
the reward for being honest is
the fulfilment of your dreams

Soliloquy on a profile picture

Deep in thought, lost to world
Mind entangled, ideas swirled
Past reflection, memories sought
Plans for future, just a thought

In your gaze, a million things
Behind blue eyes an idea springs
Pondering on your search for love
Wishing for the one dreamed of

What’s on that legal mind of yours?
Could it be some distant shores?
This picture that I have admired
Has truly got my heart inspired?

A birthday poem

Today it is your special day
So there is one thing I must do
It’s send a simple birthday wish
To last your whole year through
I wish you a day of happiness
A day when dreams come true
And hope it lasts throughout the year
Bringing lots of luck for you

Places

A stroll on the beach beneath a starry sky
Listening to the breakers as we go by
A walk in the country through forest of green
Cascading waterfalls and streams to be seen
Visiting churches with domes and with spires
With their ornate windows and angelic choirs
Sightseeing tours around castles so bold
Finding damsels and knight and hero’s of old
Theses thing maybe great and full of charms
But the best place of all is in your arms.

First Contact

As shy as a hedgerow mouse
As timid as a bunny rabbit
I cannot seem to write a line
In this crazy mind that I inhabit

The poetry and prose I write
The verses and the rhymes
I still can’t send a contact message
To endear a woman’s charms

I’ve tried so many times so far
To make a good impression
But every time I write something
It leads me to depression

I never know just what to say
To start the conversation
Now I’m stuck inside my head
My thoughts are in stagnation

A single message I’ve not sent
No contacts have been made
I have no idea what to put
This could be a lost crusade

The Brightest smile

When the road ahead is steep
And even your soul begins to weep
When love is lost and times are bad
You want to smile but end up sad
When live has dragged you to a pit
Take time out, but do not quit

There’s a future that is not written yet
And a lover that you haven’t met
One day will come the man for you
Then you’ll start your life anew
There’s a silver lining in every cloud
So, be the brightest smile in every crowd

Reflections in a dream

While I slept one night I had a dream
through a darkened forest I walked alone
Along the banks of a meandering stream
I heard what sounded like a moan
I stopped and looked into a pool
And saw the reflection of a fool

The man looked older than his years
His heart was broken and dejected
his eyes were filled with tears
from the pain he’d been subjected
I stopped and stared into his face
And wondered why he was in this place

The mind games which had been played
The violence and spite that was endured
The nerves that had been frayed
The happiness all obscured
I looked again and saw a change
The reflection now seemed rather strange

I saw far deeper than I had before
A soul that now had been set free
Released as through an open door
And now it is quite clear to see
The reflection is now a happy face
A person that is full of grace

What was it that I dreamt that night
This vivid reflection that I’d been shown
What caused my spirit to take flight
The realisation that I’m not alone
A friend’s kind words, a daughters devotion,
A family’ love began setting things in motion

Attempts at limericks

A limerick I thought I would write
Since St Patricks day is alright
It was all going fine
Until the fifth line
dunno

A schizophrenic decided to date
But he failed to capture a mate
He said, "I know that its bad,
But I don't feel too sad.
After all, I still have each other."
