A prayer for Pinkpoetress ....

Dear Pinkpoetress be brave
Though we know your pain is grave,
For with prayers in our thoughts
May the Lord your malaise sorts.

While today it's you my dear,
And tomorrow's oh so near.
Could be me or someone else
Needing prayers and a verse.

Dear, dear lady rest assured
That your call is not ignored
With dear God in mind and heart
You'll be better for a start.

Everybody has some cross
Moving on gathers no moss.
And with us do share your pain
Our prayers won't be in vain.

God bless you, for a friend in need is a friend indeed,

a sunset unshared ...

I was drowning in the golden glow of the dying day,
One evening in the early days of May.
I was alone taking in this wonderous sight.
Pity, for there was enough to share this beautiful disk's dimming light.
A ray.
One ray can kill the blackest night and lifts the soul.
Such a delight.

bear the pain

Well, aches and pains, no joy of life in whatever doses.
A smile, a kiss, a gentle touch - makes it smell of roses?

Truth is, that with no pain, there in no love, and so no hope.
And with no hope there can't be life! Go figure this - no scope!

So bear the pain, don't grunt in vain. For it would be a shame,
to miss out on the basic ingredient of life. And possibly ... fame!

To the one that got away :(

Hackle Hackle,
Bring your tackle,
For I see a fish to catch.

But you are pissed,
And your fly missed,
Fish was sly and did not latch.

But it's your b'day man today,
The beer is flowing come what may,
Just don't go bragging 'bout your catch
T'was a minnow, and not your match !!

Saint Valentine at a distance.

while you are there and I am here,
and this cold weather's everywhere.
the many a mile between us,
is just a clumsy distance.
for on this lovers' day today,
to me your heart is just a touch away,
because in my mind I feel you.

in vino veritas ...

I felt good in getting ready,
to join friends for an end of year do.
I was greeted with a sherry,
and white wine served with the fish.
and a demi with the pasta,
and a full red with the goose.
with the sweets, a devine ruby
with the Stilton was superb.
then come midnight we had bubbly,
and the hugs and the well wishes,
and the coziness of friends.

I got home about three hours
into the sparkling New Year.
and I realised I missed something,
during dinner and the funfair,
no spare thought for
the unfortunate and the suffering.
and this needed some addressing
so this note is an amendment
to repair my obvious miss.
may the world come to its senses,
and find answers to the mess
that's been created.

were we more blessed
when we had less ?

she whispered....but was well overheard !

it was quite a normal morning.
woke up early and in decent mood.
had some breakfast and a shower,
was in time and on the move.

it was typical english weather,
a light rain was drizzling down
but not windy, nor the coldest,
autumn fare, expect no sun.

on the stop i was reflecting,
of the busy day ahead,
when my bus it turned up timely
picked me up and all the rest.

bus was full, as usual really,
with no free space round my head.
without wanting i saw something,
made me make a double take.

it's the smile that drew me to her,
locked my eyes into her eyes.
though the distance was mere meters.
it was quite a big divide.

she was oh so very beautiful,
though for me a tad too old,
was surrounded by more ladies,
more my age, beauty untold.

but that morning it was special,
i was feeling rather bold,
held her gaze, she reciprocated,
and the journey was a haze.

people round us did do notice,
that we were locked in a stare.
but i liked what i was seeing
and she did take up the dare.

well a good ten minutes later,
with the staring still in bond,
charming lady pushed the button,
telling driver when to stop.

she had got to her destination,
and prepared to move along,
for a moment she was near me,
and then lost within the crowd.

but that day i will remember,
for the rest of all my years,
for that moment she brushed by me,
she had whispered in my ears:

"thank you darling, made my day"!
whispered...yet well overheard.
tell you something, my dear lady,
"i thank YOU", i must confess,
for i still carry the remembrance
of your lovely smile that day.

a sad poem.

i sit there in 'our' corner,
at your favourite eating place.
know the menu quite in detail,
and i try not to retrace.

how i miss you badly sweetheart,
it’s a fact i can't ignore.
and everytime i close my eyes,
it just hits me more and more.

no that's not quite correctly put,
'cause i see you everywhere.
everytime i try to move on,
l do feel i cannot dare.

the good die young i hear them say,
oh how cruel can life be.
but then again, life is so short
can you please wait up for me.

i talk about you everyday,
as if you are still around.
but i know where you are, ay?
my heart's with you in the ground.

how i wish i was more jolly,
and am writing funny prose,
but reality is morbid
so with this line i will close.

tell your loved ones that you love them,
do not wait for a tomorrow.
be they near or far away
it’s the way to soothe the sorrow.

i paid her to please me .. .

such a long time ago
and yet it is so clear.
i see so vividly,
my love of my dreams.

she was so beautiful
in her blood red array.
i loved her so badly
i felt hurt in a way.

i paid her to please me
on most saturdays' nights.
pushing speed insanely
delighting me mainly.

one day i was careless
and i had let her down,
was slow on reflexes,
could not stop her in time.

she purred like a kitten
after each change of oil.
renewing her sparkplugs
we made a lovely show.

she was my first motor,
sixty-five BHP.
her name was a FIAT
made me happy you see.

About this poem:
not a serious one obviously.
i was thinking of my coming of age, and obviously my first new car .. in my eyes the most beautiful little FIAT 128 in rosso-ossido colour. 2 doors, alloys and wide tyres. and yes i did let her down with my first motoring accident........aahhh, 35 years - such a long time, but can seem so 'like yesterday'. i hope this brought back some of your own pleasant memories :) xx virgosign

closing 2009 !

so two oh oh nine is nearly over,
and what have we new to say ?
did we learn anything from it,
to make for a better day ?

the millenium bug now's a decade old,
and not much did it really stir.
it did make money for I.T. pros,
no one questioned all that air.

nine eleven was two years later
those events they changed the world.
gone the feeling of security.
big brother watching - have you heard?

two oh oh four the tsunami shouted,
to this day, five years ago.
two hundred thirty thousand died that day.
lost their lives and didn't know.

doom and gloom seem to engulf us,
making news ugly to see.
can we be hopeful for tomorrow?
difficult answer - i'll wait and see.

let us all unite together,
whatever colour one might be.
blood is red in any vessel,
spilt it spreads. pain is colourless.

love should conquer all, they say,
they may think this is a game.
if the human race was reborn,
chances are we do the same!

........Unwilling King (2)

The throne is cold and empty now,
The unwilling king is gone.
Deposed, by self insistence.
A hermit and so free.

And yet, with a little hindsight,
With so much time in hand.
Ex king is much reflecting
What happened to his band.

As a king he was unhappy,
As a hermit now unsure.
Can anyone really understand
This predicament at hand?

The grass seems always greener,
The other side of the fence.
Does life need to be cruel?
A crown for a bowl of gruel?

Health and wisdom are the kingpins
On what life should hang upon.
Give him friends and understanding
And a shoulder to cry on.

Bless all fellows who are seeking.
All the truth that they can find.
For without this main ingredient,
Life is simply just a bind.
