I Took A Chance

I saw the cliff and dangle on it's edge,
My heart pounded as I stood on the ledge.
I knew not what laid in the depth below,
In order to find out I had to let go.
Desperately I hanged on for all I was worth.
I gave every excuse known on this earth.
Letting go was just not the option I wanted.
Still the beauty below continously taunted.

He whispered promises I longed to hear.
He talked me through every excuse or fear.
He promised I had nothing to fear in falling.
To my soul his sweet voice kept calling.
"I got you baby! I will always have you."
"Trust this baby. Please believe in love true."
I listened, made more excuses and then I closed my eyes.
Then I jumped hoping it is not all lies.

For the first time I took a wild chance.
I will rock no more but freely dance.
As I fall into the mystery of this experience, quite new...
I hope it is truly an adventure for two.
I have a vision of two hearts forever entwined.
And pray that our stars are forever aligned.

I took a chance and let go...
I let go for you just so you know..

Oh My! Oh Me! Oh Wheee!

I was stunned when this story was told to me.
Let's call my narrator for today Cee.
This is no church but still her testimony...
Of finding love, happiness and true harmony.
And as my heart raced and danced glee.
She informed me not with one but with three.
Well now how do I respond? Golly Gee!
Me: Explain before I faint please this trilogy!
She: Loving one is pure agony.
Something was always missing with Mr. Lee.
He was lacking time and love but cash was free.
Then I met my wonderful Anthony.
He had no cash and knew nothing about love but had a wonderful D.
I fell for Francois quite accidentally.
But he makes me wetter than the damn sea.
Me: If this was an exam I would probably be graded E.
How does one accidentally fall in love, family?
She: Oh please do not give me the third degree!
Me: Sis you got them all without Lil ol Mee!
Loving one is agony? Loving three makes you a prodigy!
She: All I hear and see is jealousy.
I have no complains I am happy.
I just hope that none studies or practice criminology.
For now I am living this life with not one apology.

PANDEMIC

I wondered how many really died
Which politician really lied
I see our weaknesses magnified
As the death toll multiplied

I see a world brought to a halt
Everyone trying to pass the fault
As COVID made a giant somersault
Reminds me why Lot's wife turned to salt.

Leaders once dominating made unsure
Scientist scrambled about for a cure
Most of us hidden behind a closed door
Watching tv and/or trying to learn more

While the Essentials tried to be brave
Not properly equip as lives they save
Our loved one might be buried in a mass grave
No matter if it be owner or slave

Our heart rate is now only registered rapid.
The future to most just looks morbid
Lord for Goliath you sent mighty little David;
Please Lord what or whom are you sending for COVID!

I Can Count To Ten

One day I met Prince Charming
Two weeks later we had our first outing
Three years later we tied the knot.
Four weeks later I saw a spot.
Five hours later " you're pregnant" says doc.
Six months later I answered a Knock.
Seven months pregnant she claimed.
Eight months dating and he says he is being framed.
Nine pics later please forgive me bae he cried.
Ten times I had asked and he had lied.

One week later all his things are gone
Two years later no dad baby Ky has known
Three babymothers after he reappeared
Four children's future is to be feared
Five minutes he begged, accepted three
"Six years baby it can still be you and me"
"Seven will be our magic number for sure."
Eight seconds later I kicked his a** out the door.
Nine lives are already in turmoil.
Ten is not going to be the one I call Kyle.

2014 IS YOUR YEAR

I declare by the Poet vested in me...
That 2014 belongs to you and you alone
It is your year to be full and free
It is your year to really and truly own

I declare by the Poet vested in me that you...
Shall and must fall in love in this great year
No matter where you go or what you do
Live this year with favour and without fear.

I declare by the Poet vested in me that 2014...
Shall and must be yours by all that is true
You shall have power, money, love and everything else between
That was your dream in 2013 the year of blue.

I declare by the Poet vested in me you shall win....
Every battle, every war but especially every heart
That comes your way this year; so take out the violin
For in 2014 the rest of your life will start...

BEST DATE EVER

Did you know you are my best date!
Incredible isn't my dear friend?
But believe me it must be fate.
It's like you are the straight to my bend!

You fill that place deep in my heart.
Yes you did. It's like I am whole today,
Fresh and ready for a brand new start.
With you around I can make my play.

You lift me up and make me strong.
Raise the bar of happiness I knew.
Promise me, you will stay very long
And be above all; honest and true.

This is my best date ever! You better believe!
I don't need a lot more that I have now.
I didn't have to ask, but I did receive.
The perfect date ever somehow!

Isn't it incredible? Fate is what this has to be.
How could it not be? Won't you agree?
It is plain I am sure for all to see.
The best date ever is you and me.

MAKE ME SWEAT OR NOT!

First date nerves are all over me
Is this the one of my dream/fantasy
He is late and I am sweating alot.
Is it traffic or did he just forgot.

Why am I hiding in the bathroom
Predicting after sex gloom and doom
He is calmly waiting out there.
Girl go sweat out there; not in here.

On a bright sunny day we tied the knot
My, my in that tux he sure looks hot
Something dances down spine
All in my head is the word "MINE"

Guess the honeymoon was a success
I am now wearing a maternity dress
Sweating buckets as I writhe in pain
Hoping and praying my sanity remain

Fast forward to my tenth anniversary
You guessed it; sweating is my destiny
He is late again. Its not traffic I'm sure
He may not even come to this door.

IS THERE A REASON!!!!

Is there a reason........
Why birds fly,
Babies die,
Mothers cry
Humans lie?

Is there a reason.........
Why girls remain shy,
Boys think they are fly
Politicians are sly
Or society barely get by?

Is there are reason........
Why the poor are hungry,
The rich are angry
The world is full of anarchy
I was not born an Iraqi?

Is there a reason..........
Judges can be bought,
Wars are fought,
Hatred is taught,
Or fortune is sought?

Really is there a reason...
For each little season,
The practice of treason,
Illicit liaison
And even women who are brazen?

JUST FOR YOU

GET UP! DO SOMETHING!Shake those shakles
Of abuse, of pain, of loneliness or whatever
Make a move because it is all up to you
No one can break those chains
Ease that pain or guide you through it all
You have the POWER, it is all in YOU
FIND IT!
TAKE IT!
USE IT!
TREASURE IT!
NEVER LOOSE IT!

GET UP! DO SOMETHING! Liberate the warrior inside
Now is not the time to hide behind weak excuses
You are strong, brave and most of all worthy
You are the most special person in the universe
No one can take that away from you
It is who you are and who you were meant to be
UNDERSTAND THAT!
KNOW THAT!
BELIEVE THAT!
PORTRAY THAT!
NEVER FORGET THAT!

GET UP! DO SOMETHING! Do it for you
Do it because you want to for yourself
And enjoy every moment of it
Forget what the world may say or think
This action is yours and yours alone
And only YOU matter in the equation
YOU DESERVE IT!
YOU HAVE EARNED IT!
YOU CAN DO IT!
YOU MUST HAVE IT!
YOU ARE YOU AND NO ONE ELSE!

Treat you special it is the least you deserve.

Miss I'm Impossible

I rise at six; say a prayer, check my phone,
Go to the kitchen for my fifteen minutes alone,
Drink my first cup of coffee and practice my smile
And pray for the strength to act docile.
"In the children's presence at least dear Father."
Spine straight, head up and smile on Heather.

Eight-thirty I walk through office doors head held high.
Smile in place, game face on and fighting the urge to sigh.
Appropriate greetings, smile, smile and wave.
Trisha, Andy, Mike, Samantha and even that creep Dave.
" Just another day, another act for the almighty dollar."
Man does Amy ever breaks her collar.

Five I shut my computer down and grab my pocket book.
Home I go to prepare dinner; good wives always cook.
A smile on my face I greet the kids and listen to their tales.
He got an A and she got homework about blue whales.
"Please make him be late, dear God I will take any excuse today."
His car is driving up I noted with dismay.

Ten the house is quiet finally but i can't mistake that for peace.
That I will get when mine, his or both heartbeat cease.
Matrimonial duties are the worse these days.
I avoid them in some unconventional ways.
"Forgive me Father for I am about to sin."
My headache will hit as soon as he walks in.

Tomorrow is a new start or that is what I was taught.
Will I get a new start out of this web in which I'm caught.
I hope so was my last thought before sleep came.
My last feeling though was on of intense shame.
"Father forgive me for I have sinned once more."
I moaned loud and hard as he opens the door.

The Price of Obedience

Society says this is the way and so I play
Over and over again always losing the game
From the rules I just can’t or won’t stray
In the end I find somewhere to lay the blame
For the pain, the feelings of failure, the hole
That opens even wider in my damaged soul

Society says this is the way and I listen keenly
Maybe I did something wrong; one more attempt
This time I will make a few changes like the scenery
Yet again defeat looks me in the eye with contempt
As it pours salt on the wounds of my soul
And anguish ravishes my Spirit and hold on to its control.

Society says this is the way; so I hide my tears
Hug my depression close like a secret lover
The world must not know I have fears
Must not learn just how much my smiles cover
Even as the light in my soul recedes by the hour
My smiles must never ever once cower

Society says this is the way; so I become a lie
Held together by more lies and a little deceit
Secrets, hurt, pain and a glowing smile my alibi
Living my life has never been an easy feat
My soul suffers most because it is never seen
Torn and worn it will soon be a “has been”

Society says this is the way; so suffer I must
Silently but reverently cause that is the dictate
My head and heart may be about to combust
But my smile is force to sparkle and compensate
For the weakening of my soul every day
Because Society says that is the best way.

PEACE TALKS

"Knock, knock, peace here.
Can I please pull up a chair?
I would like to chat a bit.
You look tired please sit.

I know you have been searching for me..
It has been a tiring search I can see
But you searched the wrong places
You were looking at the wrong faces

I was never out there somewhere
I was always standing right here
If only you had stopped to look within
My oh my how happy you could've been

I watched you cry so many nights
As you waded through your many plight
I tried to tell I was there in your heart.
Just waiting for you to find me from the very start.

I am here now, so dry your tears
Let's put away these chairs
Its time to live happy and care free
Knowing inside you is where I'll always be."
