Clouds are for rain....aren't they???

Where I come from if there were clouds you could be pretty sure rain wasn't far behind, but today on the news headlines I see celebs have been using "clouds" to store their nude pictures, eeeem call me old fashioned but if I have things I want to keep to keep private I don't ask a total stranger to look after them for me

For me the same goes for virus software companies, who in their right mind would let a totally unknown company scan their drive online

Now said celebs are up in arms because their pictures are all over the net, allegedly, I say allegedly as I haven't bother to check, seeing as I've no idea who most of them are that would seem a bit pointless

Now if any bloggers have something private\incriminating they want to store I do have some space on a hard & would be happy to help out

Hi Zman, My son gave me an I phone and I was going through it one day recently on my photo`s and have kept seeing this `cloud` thing... have never known what it was

maybe it is the same I don`t know

Thankfully I have nothing in it.... and glad if it is open to anyones viewings. Was going to check with my kids what is was.

Its pretty scarey what can be made public viewing on the the internet..

Like you the only clouds I know are .. the ones that are in the sky.

Just letting you know England has been sunny today and warm with pretty clouds in the sky.

Wallpos, cloud is just a trendy name for a bloody great storage system, whilst the idea might hold some appeal for those with space issues you wouldn't catch me using it

Clouds are rain. This was what our science teacher taught us.

However, in our computer dominated world "cloud" is a software for storing digital data.

All softwares are vulnerable to hacking , so hence private matters that are stored today are expose to the public tomorrow.

Nam, it's a fine line between need & want there, as I suspect most of the storage in these clouds are pictures, true we don't actually need to keep old pictures, but I'd be really sad if I didn't have mine. Without storing them as digital data as you said yourself the other day, the chemicals on the old prints will eventually make them unviewable, so some form of storage is a necessity, but I won't be using a cloud for mine even though I have clothes on in all of them
