My trip back from Ohio started off good. 17 degrees, super windy but no snow. The connecting flight was in Charlotte, North Carolina and I received a text message the flight plan changed to a different gate. This time it was on the other end of the airport. No problem, I consider that the same as my morning walk in Florida.
Beautiful skies around 50 degrees but no time to enjoy as I had less than 30 minutes to gobble an $8 slice of pizza and head to the new gate. The pizza was actually good and maybe the most expensive price paid for a single slice.
I didn't pay much attention to the plane other than it was huge and probably held 200 passengers and crew. Typically, I wear sound deadening ear plugs and a hoodie jacket to keep my elbows from rubbing the armrests. Cat naps when possible, we had a few hours in the air. Checking the weather radar, it showed all of South Florida covered in rain. Early in the flight the pilot announced we would have to do a slight course change to avoid bad weather adding at least 30 minutes of travel.
A few rows ahead of me were a group of women and their young children, both sides of the aisle, easily a group of 10. While the earplugs muted the sound of the engines, I could hear the 'bing' sounds when the pilot (or crew) made announcements and sometimes I pulled the plug enough to actually hear what was coming over the announcement system.
Turbulence was very high and the seat belt signs were on for the entire flight.
Also for the entire flight were the children whining, talking, crying, shouting and being rambunctious. It never stopped. The guy sitting next to me commented his kid never carried-on the way these children did. While I didn't hear anyone (other than him) being vocal about it, I'm sure they all had similar opinions.

Tropical storm Nicole affected my vacation plans. I moved my departure a day earlier expecting to be on my way prior to the storm, but all flights were cancelled a day before departure.
Nicole is expected to be a category 1 hurricane, winds around 70mph tonight as it crosses Bahamas it will drop back to a tropical storm below 70 when it hits the east coast of Florida in the early morning.
Between cancellations and rebooking, I've lost a few hours on the phone with customer service and I have to wait 72 hours for a credit to apply for the return flight next week. It's a good thing I purchased travel insurance so my original tickets aren't lost.
It is what it is...
For the last several years since my children have grown into adults, I have been traveling about, exploring this beautiful country. I go where there's opportunities and in some cases, where I'm needed....a bit of a nomad, I suppose. I came back to Connecticut to help my daughter with some things and now that my help has been rendered, the grandkids are now all in school, it's time to move on again, so as not to hinder her progress in adult life. Though, I'm not sure if I plan to leave Connecticut before or after winter, I also have to decide where my next destination will be
....and where I can serve a purpose to help others. And different environments where to begin my art sales again. I have already lived in Florida, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Connecticut. California looks promising, but maybe some input from others here can give me some insight as to a good destination

Currently, there is a subtropical storm due east of Florida that has a forecast to head west and become a hurricane on Wednesday as it crosses the Bahamas. By Wednesday night, it will be directly over Florida's east coast around the Palm Beach area and guarantee my vacation plans to leave on Thursday will need to be rescheduled.

I'm pretty excited....today will be taking a road trip up 4-5 hours into New Hampshire. Now day trips may be mediocre to some, but to me, being the hermit that I am ..
..it's a blast, seeing as I hardly go anywhere, other than a walk to a local store for necessities. My smokes are much cheaper there too, so I'm stocking up
(my apologies to the nonsmokers lol) Who loves to travel?? I know I do

I've been delaying a trip to see my brother in Ohio. The last few times it was cold... I'm a Florida guy and dislike cold. Growing up in New York and some band tours into Canada during winter has nightmares of body parts freezing and breaking off!
Like the time I was driving in Nova Scotia Canada in an old Ford van with a broken heater and rotted out weather stripping on the doors. I had a blanket wrapped around my left leg and couldn't feel my toes.
I don't want to travel on a holiday weekend so my window is before Thanksgiving.
The weather has already kicked with nights into the 40's (Fahrenheit) and the leaves on the trees changing color. So, I need to book flights and pack some heavy clothing!

Time travel has always been an interest of mine. The 1960 movie The Time Machine being a favorite, except H.G. Wells went forward so nothing in the present was affected.
The 1985 movie Back to the Future always had the element of 'fixing things' that were disturbed from their time travel visits.
Yesterday while returning home I was doing the speed limit and went through an intersection under a yellow light. Could I have stopped? Probably, but I had model helicopters and gear in the back, so I carried on. Cross traffic still had a red light. However, a car leaving a gated community was charging the intersection ignoring the 'right turn on red law' that states AFTER a full stop. Realizing if he didn't brake, my car would be struck on the right side, I leaned on my horn and pressed the accelerator hoping to clear the intersection a second sooner.
It worked, Obviously, the driver wasn't paying attention, but I got him to brake and actually turn away from my path. Good thing or he would have struck my car directly and I would have spent the afternoon in the hospital, go through months of physical therapy and weeks of car repairs.
I was watching some LED ZEPPELIN videos and as many remember, when John Bonham died in 1980, so did Zeppelin. Sure, each of them continued musically, but their collective careers stopped.
What if I could change history... What if I was there and hired a body guard to follow John's every move and keep him from drinking excessively... the reason for his death.
John would have survived, history would have changed, Zeppelin would have released 6 more albums, etc, etc, etc... the repercussions would be immense.
On a smaller scale, 20 years ago, while driving to work one morning where highway traffic slowed, if I would have been in a different lane, I would have missed the woman on her cellphone that caused a 4 car pileup sending me to the hospital causing years of back pain.
That's a good start. I could think of other personal events I would like to have changed along the way!
