Charitable Donation Rejected. blues

I gave a lot of my home's furniture away to a local charity today. They were happy to take everything except my wood-framed california-king bed and mattress. Almost apologetically, they explained they could not take the mattress (get this) because the mattress has some sort of staining on its top. WTH confused

i had a hell of a time getting rid of mine.

i even called the garbage company and asked if there was anything special required. they of course said noooooooo.

then on garbage day they didn't take it ???confused

so,it sat on the front lawn for a week and the city gave me a ticket.

long story short they wouldn't take it until it was wrapped in plastic. it's a requirement now.

I'm surprised they didn't take the timber bed frame confused

However the mattress is a health issue, stains are not just on the surface plus it's bound to be full of dust mite.

Here, we have the choice of old mattresses being taken away and dumped in landfill or, better, paying to have them collected, stripped, and the innersprings recycled wine
