4 Habits That Will Build Your Confidence

4 Habits That Will Build Your Confidence

Confidence is attractive. But being confident doesn't come from wearing the most expensive designer clothes, driving the car that everyone covets, or having the thinnest body. Confidence comes from how you feel about yourself despite not having those things. Confidence doesn't come from perfection, but from feeling good about who you are and what you do. Here are four habits you can implement into your life that will help you build confidence.

1. Learn to say no

If you lack confidence, you may be a people pleaser who is willing to do anything someone asks of you even though you really don't want to. People who lack confidence require the approval of those around them. If you want to build your confidence, practice saying "no" when someone asks you for a favor that you don't want to do. It's also important to remember that you don't owe anyone a reason for why you are saying no. They don't need to approve your reason. Confident people can be assertive without feeling bad. Remember that not everyone will be happy with your decisions, so it's always a good idea to do what you want to do.

2. Think positively

People who are confident don't let negative thoughts from themselves or others take over their thinking. If you want to be confident, remain positive and optimistic. Look at the bright side of situations instead of dwelling on the negative. Write down a few things you are grateful for every day. Confident people encounter problems just like everyone else, but they look for solutions.

3. Take care of yourself

Confident people make their health and wellness a priority because they know they are worth it. They want to be the best version of themselves that they can be. If you want to build your confidence, do what you can to look and feel your very best. Working out will get your feel good hormones flowing. You'll begin to feel better physically and emotionally. Eating well is also a good way to take care of your body inside and out. Eating the right foods will help you to be healthy and make your hair and skin look good. Another way to build confidence is to look your best. Wear clothes and put on makeup that make you feel good. It doesn't matter if you're at staying home for the day or running errands. You can look and feel good about yourself anytime, anyplace.

4. Try new things

Trying new things, especially things that may scare you, is a great way to build confidence. You might think you're not good enough to try a martial arts class, smart enough to take a course on Victorian literature, or attractive enough to dress up and go to the Four Seasons for drinks. These are the things you should try because you want to. By stepping out of your comfort zone you will show yourself how much you are truly capable of and feel more confident.

You can build confidence by changing your habits. Habits can be learned, which means that even if you've never been a confident person, you can become one through practice.
