SAMSUNG is to start work on the first ever smart TV that can be controlled by the user's mind

SAMSUNG is to start work on the first ever smart TV that can be controlled by the user's mind, according to reports.

The software will allow people to change channels and the volume using only their brain.

Samsung are to start testing first smart TVs that can be controlled by your mind, according to reportsSamsung says it is developing the technology with the help of a team in Switzerland to help those with disabilities.

The research, called Project Pontis, wants to enable "users with physical limitations to change channels and adjust sound volume with their brains".

Brain-monitoring sensors and eye-tracking hardware are currently used to identify what selections the individual intends to make.

But they hope to make so advanced it will be able to work on brain commands alone.

That means you’d only need to think about changing the volume for it to happen.

The company predicts new prototype testing in early 2019 and there is not any suggestion it would be commercially available product.

It is currently aimed at specifically helping those with severe disabilities.

I can see the future......of the TV switching back & forth between channels as couples watch TV together. laugh

"Honest Honey, it wasn't me that thought of ESPN, it must be a glitch." laugh
It was about time! Smart TVs already control our minds, so we do some backwards compatibility laugh
This is seen as a possibility, but talk about telepathy and that's wooo stuff for nutters? laugh Ok I get it, it's science, totally different. And probably requiring some minor electrodes inserted in the brain ... uh oh I'm not knocking it, if the possibility exists it could be life-changing for some. Good blog subject! .

In Hitchhikers Guide Douglas Adams talked about changing TV channels by waving your hand, but having to then sit very, very still while watching. laugh
"smart TV that can be controlled by the user's mind"

I think "smart" is exactly the wrong word.
This reminds me of the scene in X-Men 2 (I believe it was), where a child is changing the channel by blinking his eyes! Mind control is scary, but intriguing at the same time!
Now the mind boggles---could it go a step further were the TV controlls YOU ha ha
I will not be buying Samsung i like to turn tv off myself ha ha
Most of these new developments only appear to be for the benefit of the consumer, but are for the benefit of big business or more nefarious organisations.

From a commercial point of view, adverts would be linked to our thoughts. 'Oh no, the toaster has broken' and up jumps a variety of adverts about toasters.

I am sure governments would love us to use software controlled by our brain. They would use that technology to control us further.

The less 'smart' technology we have in our private houses, the more ownership we have of ourselves.
The first prototypes will be test marketed to Democrats/Liberals. Early projections are, using that demographic alone, success can be easily determined using minimal brain waves and pre programming is inherent in that test group. It is hoped that the new TV's will get more than two channels (CNN, MSNBC) and volume control will include 'whining' as well as 'complaining'. California and parts of the East Coast are the initial markets to be tested. No tests will done in Washington, DC.

cool
I can end up with mine being scrambled then, i will keep telling myself, focus focus, and all i will end up with is Ford commercials
