Bummer car show.
Every year there is a major car show in the Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton. Been on for years. Between tourist season, water park capital of the world, traffic is a pain. And crowds. Used to be at one park and they almost had a system. But, got a hassle so moved to Mt. Olympus water park. And the city and park and club never have seen fit to broadcast how to enter, where to enter, where to park for visitors or anything.We have given up on it. And so have many car guys we know.
So we went up to the Dells and sat along the main drag in downtown to watch traffic. And except for a T-bucket, a kit 30s roadster, bread truck, a few 60s, the cars were mostly fart poppers. Kids with newer cars that they pretend are hot cars. Lots of noise, burn out from stop lights, yelling and sillyness. Only cool were 3 Mexican choppers sitting at the curb. Fender skirt extensions on back, tractor seat, Desoto head gas tanks. And a radio so loud you couldnt stand there to admire.
We watched cars and people. And I said nothing like here to make me feel ancient. Too many young people walking past.
I looked a photos at the show itself and same idea...cars like driving on the freeways. I think the real hot rodders, restorers, collectors have written the Dells off. Kids more interested in racing around, burning tires and being cool. Guess what children..WE started it all way back. Been there, done that and are not impressed.
