Fancy Farm...
Fancy Farm Picnic is regarded as Kentucky's political Super Bowl. Senator Mitch McConnell was there and gave a speech that was drowned out by chants of 'retire' but he continued talking as though he was being supported. It appears they gave him a standing ovation:

Would that be Republican, or Democrat supporters chanting 'retire' and 'shame on you'? Is it really about his health?

I say it's about his age combined with recent health issues.

Presumaby it's extremely unlikely that a mix of Republican and Democrat supporters got together to protest and heckle him, therefore it's likely one, or the other.
And why would protesters chant, "Shame on you!" if it was just about his age and recent alleged health issues?
Surely, 'shame on you' must refer to something he has done. None of us deliberately get old, it just kinda creeps up on us when we blink, or something.

The reason for the chant is both republicans and democrats wants someone in Congress who can make a decision, a younger person who can make a decision and be trusted for the decision they make. McConnell cannot be trusted to know what he is voting for because his brain doesn't function well now.

It would seem odd (the audience) to afford him the benefit of the doubt regarding his mental fitness when some are critical of Biden for the very same thing...
It would be a good idea to freshen up both parties with new "blood" so to speak...but I do think it is unwise to label older folk as mentally unfit...
Instead old ideas/beliefs need to change...jmo...

Here in the UK we don't think of aging, or illness as a deliberate behaviour. We think of age, or illness as something that happens to people.
How do you know that the protest consisted of both parties' supporters?

Diane Feinstein was also asked to retire because she is also old and had an incident recently that proved she isn't well enough to hold a position in Congress.
Both McConnell and Feinstein cannot be trusted to make decisions that their vote would be good for the country.
These people have been in Congress so long that they think of it as their home.
We need a law for term limits in Congress the same as we have for the presidency.

If Mtch Mcconnell wasn't being shamed, why are protesters chanting, "Shame on you!" at him?
It doesn't make sense to me that the protest was about him having that blank moment of unknown origin, when there is controversy with respect to him both supporting and disavowing Trump. He didn't vote to impeach Trump when he had the (second) opportunity, but denounced him and his election fraud claims less than an hour before the insurrection kicked off.
It's a strangely impassioned protest at a picnic over a brain fart moment, unless of course there is some reason why the overt hostility is being downplayed in the news.
Might he be a witness for the prosecution with respect to the latest charges filed against Trump?
