My first over night shift.
Well it turns out the special event that the restaurant was going to stay open for got cancelled. So since we didn't have that many customers the restaurant closed at it's normal time and the manager decided to pull out all the furniture and do a deep clean. It was fun. There was some furniture that I and a few others thought was screwed to the floor but all it needed was a couple of strong young men to lift it and we were able to clean under it. By the time the girl who took over from me came in it was nearly all done. I didn't start to feel tired until I was waiting for the bus home. I've had a good sleep and now have two days off. My next 5 shifts are early starts. One thing I did notice is that the atmosphere is a lot more relaxed on an overnight than a day shift. I've put this down to the fact that during the day we are very busy with queues nearly out of the door most of the time. At night they only basically get an hour or so of queues out of the door after that it's people who come out of the pub after the pubs have closed their doors for the night and those who leave the casino next door to the restaurant, very few people. A new experience I enjoyed.
