Religion or no religion

This is a topic that really bothers me. I am so sick of seeing people bash others based upon whether they are or are not religious. I personally am not religious, but I have nothing against those who are. I have been to many a different denomination and church growing up, and it was not for me, but I gave it a try with an open mind.

I cannot stand those who think just because you are not religious that you are not a good person. They think just because they are or claim to be religious they are better than those who are not. I cannot stand those who think people who are religious are nieve and stupid.

This is so far from the truth. To me a person should be judged based upon their actions and who they are, not their religion or lack of, the color of their skin, their race, where they are from, or their s*xual preferences. Judge people for who they are and what they do, it is that simple, but so many make it seem so hard to do because they just look at the surface and do not take the time to look inside to see what is really there.

I don't see the harm in believing, if its real well good on me, if its not real then what has one lost. Better safe than sorry I would say...
You're ever so right; people should be judged on their actions and not on their beliefs.
However, people do judge and anything that's outside their comfort zone, is often referred to as wrong.
People are people and this will never change.
I was raised in a very strict protestant family and found the intolerance always very striking; it seems to me that the more religious one is, the more intolerant.
Ofcourse it can also be the other way; I know plenty of couples, where both partners have different backgrounds or religion and they manage to see this as an addition to their lives and relationship instead of an obstacle. It all depends on the person I think.
buckeyes...tough blog....we need a neutral referee for this discussion....laugh uh oh
Buckeye , I agree with you 100% and makes me more aware that those who are claiming to be so God fearing are the ones who do the most judging and try to control everything that is around them according to what they beleive, But One God, One Truth'so why is there some many? Also true beleivers would live by the word not just speak it....
All Religions are man made.
Throughout the centuries there has
been wars fought because of it.
Who is the winner in the end?
who knows the answer to that one.
Many of the wars still go on.
I do not believe in any Religion
I believe in good and decent humans
its how they live how they treat others
that counts more than going to church
and then back bitting the neighbour, not
all mind. So I am careful not to thread
on the toes of those who do go to Church
on a regular basis.
Let he believe in what he may without
hinderance from others!

No one should have a religion. People must have a relationship with God or a god.

Since I am a Christian I know for a fact that Jesus Christ says not to judge anyone because HE will judge you. My God has given people free will. They can believe or not believe. If one believes there are not two ways in your belief and actions. If you don't believe then that's your business and a real Christian cannot force Jesus Christ on anyone! We must love everyone and we cannot condemn because it is not our jobs! And Jesus says that!
ED, I see a contridiction, or should I say confusion, in your statement. People must not have a religion but must have a relationship with god? This does not make sense to me.

Christianity is a religion, with God and Jesus (God's son) being the 2 "people" that are called upon in prayer and whatnot, and many denominations of said religion. Buddhism has Buddha. Muslim has Allah. Jehovah's Witness has Jehovah. These are religions that have a god as the focal point, without them there are none of these religions.
