athiesm
no this blog might upset alot of cs users, but this is my personal opinion. now being christian i have always had to suffer under the scrutiny of athiest.athiests has the tendancy to belittle anyone belonging to a religion, no matter what that religion is.
if you are muslem you have felt the scorn from athiests, be it budist taoist christian or what ever you believe in.
being athiest means that "you are the smartest person on earth"
yet history has proven that notion so wrong so many times.
to me personaly being athiest makes you a by stander, someone unable to make a choice.
the worlds best minds all believed in something greater than out selfs.
i just dont want "draad sitters" side liners.
to tell me what to believe when they them selfs dont know!

ook ja willem echt zo waar.
all religions is nothing more than a waste of time to certain people, no matter how just or benificial to the human race.
I believe gods are the invention of the imagination of mankind in an easy attempt to try to explain that which mankind does not understand. As we better understand such mysteries, those gods are eliminated. For example the Romans, Greeks, and other cultures had gods for thunder, the sun, the wind, the sea, etc...
Now that we have a better understanding of those 'mysteries' most would find it ridiculous to still have a god for those natural objects.
Some still don't understand creation, so for many, a god still exists. Last year Steven Hawking issued a statement that now our understanding of creation has made god superflous.
In ancient times the greatest minds believed in god. Just about everyone did. They also believed the world was flat.
However, as new evidence continually emerges over time,
paradigm shifts in our thought processes occur.
While currently most people still hold onto the notion of a god,
I believe eventually a long time from now, most people will abandon this notion. However, I don't chastise others for their beliefs. As long as you don't harm or chastise others for their beliefs, you deserve the same acceptance and respect.
BUT, when science can not explain something the athiest comunity puts it aside as simply the unexplained, no matter what proof is given by other religious groups. never wanting to admit that there might be something greater than us.
hawkins said it einstein said it yet those who cling to theire theorys refuses to admit it.
sorry jim i am not trying to tare you down, but if you shon the theories of those whos theories tou so strongly cling to it makes you either a hipocryt or a fool. not meaning you but the athiest comunity.
(old norse quote) the gues of a wise man can be taken as truth.
The discussion could go on for ages... best not.
personally , Im not religious , a little spiritual, but even then... a little questionable. The search continues......at least for me ?
We'll go to that part most of us the way it seems now and theres no flames there. Thats a lie. Thing is: it pretty eternal that death, from my christian perspective that is Mary. Now, i think thay should leave you alone with that talk, and respect u like the handshake i gave Jim.
I'm not sure what you were trying to say.
You're only a fool, if you hang onto an old theory that has been disproven, or further improved to take into new evidence. Theories are suggestions of the truth and can be tested.
They are approximations of the truth and are either proven or replaced by better approximations.
For instance the theory of evolution has been supported by so much overwhelming evidence since first put forth by Darwin, that is no longer considered merely a theory. It is accepted fact even by most who still hang onto the theory of there being a god.

My words here are all based on your first comment ...
For all those with religious beliefs...
I do not scrutinise ,
I do not belittle ,
Nobody has ever felt scorn from me whether they knew me or
not or no matter what their spiritual beliefs were ,
As an atheist I've never in my life thought I was "the smartest person on earth",
I don't think I'm a bystander at all,
I know for sure I can make a choice because I've made
millions of them in my life ... some big , some small ,
And the only thing greater in my mind is other people ,
and that is what makes me feel good inside ,top to bottom &
all over ,
Point is , it's very easy to be good to others and not even have
any type of religion involved,
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks like this,
Respectfully yours, Peter (Atheist)
I know the guy who you are talking about. He recently got obsessed raising his atheist flag on the forums and got some enemies there. He used to be a nice man to talk with but his obsession for religion topics were too much. Pity...I will miss him somehow. (Hope you are reading this, man.)
@Lindz:
"athiests has the tendancy to belittle anyone belonging to a religion, no matter what that religion is."
Living in a almost 100% Christian (mostly catholic) country, I would change your words to: "Catholics have the tendancy to belittle anyone belonging to a religion, no matter what that religion is." Honestly, that´s how I feel and see here in Brazil.
There´s a inner war between catholics and protestants here. I come from a Christian family (some protestants, others catholic) and I respect both but I have heard catholics scorning protestants and never the opposite, I must say. It saddens me to see such a thing and the catholic person who dares to do that on a protestant one will have a bad time if I am around. I know, none of my business but I can´t help myself. hehe
From what I said you may have an idea of how I see catholics and that´s why I said I would change your words if I could.
I can get a long with people from other religions. If you don´t try to convert me I´ll be your friend forever. Respect me and I´ll respect you.
A QUESTION TO EVERYBODY:
Would you date (long term relationship) a person of another religion?
my old poll about it:
Read what jesus said.
Thats all that matters imo. Not priests words.
