A Challenge Too Big for One Person to Solve

I've been thinking about this for a long time. What should my legacy be? Should I just live a good life... be honest and fair and treat people well... help where I can... find joy for those close to me...

-or-

Should I also think about something bigger? Something larger than my piece of the world... something too large to fix... can't be solved... but one person is still able to have an impact.

If you were to adopt a cause ... something to devote resources to that touches more than your family and friends ... what would it be?

- Children in poverty?
- Crime in the cities?
- Medicine for undeveloped/remote communities?
- Save the whales?
- Global warming?

Or perhaps the less obvious...

- Some scientific breakthrough... energy production, water purification or something else...
- Research of some societal challenge... Perhaps an improvement to education. Perhaps human ills like child and spouse abuse. (I've been reading the recent blog on this)... Substance abuse... Employment opportunities...
- Perhaps contributions to the arts ... to the expansion of thinking ... to more appreciation of the abstract.

I think about this... about whether their should be a longer story arc in my life...

... beyond work and the people I share life with today... something bigger... something beyond me/us... and something where my/our contribution would matter.

Have you given this any thought? Are the needs of today already using up your resources? If you had time, energy, and money to devote to something bigger ... what would it be?

Feel free to be unrealistic ... all ideas/dreams are welcome.

Sponsor my siblings education is that bit goal for me. And if God will still allow me and have the means, then will help some others in our community. A lot to do but I have only limited resources, so I will start on my own family and that we can also give more in the future with the help of my siblings and the people we (will) help.
Hi Rich,

Me i ain't rich but if i was..I would love to invest in MEDICINE and also i would like to build some HOMES for the children in poverty and old people who need help. Some don't have no one to help them and they are dieing god knows where end bad in the hand of mafia or on the streeds.blues

The sadest is that most of us know this but the ones with power don't do nothing they don't care they just turn the back and are happy they aren't in that situation. sigh
Hi Richard!
For me it has been a surch for finding something usefull to do in my life, whitout having someone else telling me how to live it...
All restricktions and rules made by goverment makes it hard to do something meaningfull by youreself. Like starting a own bussiness ore doing something you like instead of doing something just for the money.
So I work real hard now to be able to make a living of something I like to do.
And that means that my path is set, as it probably will take the rest of my dayes to get there?
But at least I now have a goal, and all the hard work feels meaningfull. I live my dream even if it almoust kills me on the way.
So thats my purpose for the rest of my life, trying to reach my goal and not be a burden to others while doing it.

Shay - hug

Education... and starting at home... family... then community... contributing what you can to a better future for those close to you. Awesome. teddybear

Lazly - hug Medicine and housing... huge need in both areas, isn't there?

Are you familiar with Habitat for Humanity? Here's their office in Bucharest...

I've always been impressed with this organization and have sent money to them in the past.

For medicine... Bill & Melinda Gates started a foundation years ago with lots of their own money from his profits at Microsoft...

Polio vaccine and other efforts... wonderful contributions from their efforts.

I think about the existing organizations... a new one doesn't need to be started... being able to contribute time/money would be great... figuring out something specific to work on though... that's a challenge. ...
Viking - To realize your goals ... To feel liberated and in charge of your own destiny ... what a great back-drop for your story arc!

I just visited your profile...
Entrepreneurial / Start-up / Self-Employed

It sounds like you're finding your freedom. thumbs up

Does your boat have a crew or is this an individual endeavor? ... Some day ... thinking about boat #2 or isn't it about that?

I'm glad you have goals... a mission... and get to work on it...

Chica - Tennis cuties... perhaps I should add a few of my own choices laugh ... I'm just happy to see the ladies here on the blog ... part of the joy of being around women like youself ... you give us guys a reason to smile. teddybear

Nadal didn't used to be too good on clay but he's just amazing on any surface now.

And Novak! ... First, a really cool guy ... funny and very personable ... and he just gets the ball to do things the rest of us can only dream of ... so much fun to watch!

Thanks for checking the rankings! ... I know there are tournaments all year but I consider our Summer to be "tennis season". grin
