Rubbernecking the Blogs
Curiosity... is that why? Can't help but look?New blogs arrive daily... hourly... many roll through with limited attention... perhaps a dozen comments. Some that involve more dramatic players often accumulate significantly more activity.
Sometimes... though I know I shouldn't... I just feel like reading whatever the big drama blog might be... the blog itself... the comments... and the games that are played... those who get defensive... those who communicate through insults... somehow, it just looked like a blog that would stir up emotions.
Sometimes... I can't ignore them... have to read them... there's usually something to laugh about... something to be bothered about... frustrated about.
When you see a blogging train wreck, do you find yourself rubbernecking or are you able to skip right to the next blog?
Perhaps this is when the blogs are the most interesting... or perhaps this is when you wonder why you signed on...
Some days, I'm a rubbernecker. How about you?
Comments (17)
or this morning) that you do posses a backbone!
As for commenting, I know you didn't ask, but I think it's within the same scope of your thoughts...I go for the humorous approach to represent my only talent and sometimes try to diffuse the fights with humor. Additionally you may ask "Why?", and the "Why?" answer, is that lately, I have thought that the blogs needed some new life!
I think we're all guilty of rubbernecking! Sadly some blogs don't get the attention they deserve!
I try not to have fight. But I guess there is time that I cant ignore...
I see a lot of aggravation
on the blogs and no I do not
join in.
Its a shame folks feel like
this and use the blogs to
slate each other.
Fun and frolics is more my
line.
sometimes even mine It is when the come out I do one, yes depart.
OK, I've been learning not to feed trolls and not feed haters either Skip, skip, skip for a better world
Good morning and enjoy your day
Yeah, I mostly do the same thing, i.e., read them and look at the comments and then move on to the next one. Unless I get a nice blog to comment on like this one!
Every now and then some slang term comes to mind. I'm always curious whether it's a term used elsewhere.
Parti's blog started innocently, didn't it? ... Even as I saw some ugliness in the comments, I kept reading. That's one trap for me... if the blog had been by certain other bloggers, I probably wouldn't have opened it...
Hi Sur,
When someone is treated poorly here, I always wonder about making the circumstance worse... the comment I added was more tame than what I was thinking.
This is the internet though... I don't get too upset about words in a computer from people using fake names... but over time, some people wear out their welcome.
We do reveal ourselves on the blogs, don't we?
I agree ... some blogs look like a stack of dry kindling just waiting for a spark.
Some people just want to be there when the flames erupt. Personally, I don't seek out drama like this ... but sometimes ... if my mood is right ... I'll wander in anyways.
Diffusing fights ... without taking a few punches yourself. ... not an easy task ... emotions are personal things and people like to keep them going ... it's not easy stepping in as referee.
It's good to see you!
Learning the personalities around here ... yes, that's definitely part of it. There are a few bloggers whose posts I used to read. Over time you find personalities that fit your own better... similar humor... similar outlook...
And you also know the ones who will start trouble... are you able to skip over the 'trouble' blogs or do you find yourself reading them anyways?
Music -
When a blogger is new... or sometimes when the timing just doesn't work... a well written blog is overlooked by most. Time of day, day of the week... and some manner of luck are all involved if you're looking for lots of views/comments.
I agree... sometimes big drama on one blog draws most of the attention, while better blogs may be missed entirely.
Personally, I've stopped thinking about how much attention one of my blogs receives... I post when the time is right for me... and at least a few good people seem to always notice... I'm grateful for their thoughts. For myself, as a blogger, this is enough.
Fun and frolic ... so it's a happy/positive outlook for you.
Hammock posted a blog recently about whether we're the same person on the blogs as in real life. Some of the frustration shown... perhaps that is more revealing than what many will write in their profile... perhaps showing more of their real personality... or perhaps showing something different since this (CS) isn't real life.
I agree... most of the aggravation can go on without my involvement... it's frustrating though... to see the games being played... not always easy to keep my voice out of it.
Thanks for being a voice of reason.
Yes... something about this... about being where the excitement is.
This also why I often miss the excitement... I usually don't go to the blogs where the unpleasant people are.
btw... I think of things like this when someone acts angry and feels they need to blow off some steam ... if they didn't get involved with things/people who aggravate them, they wouldn't need to blow off steam. Negative emotions may be necessary at times but they aren't healthy in my view.
Okay... you'll go and read but generally stay clear. Comments in better/nicer places.
Thank you for your positive thoughts.
Sometimes I feel like I missed out when someone refers to a dust-up that I never saw... but I don't mind being ignorant about the negative stuff... can't say that I've ever missed a chance to enrich my life because of this.
