Pursuit of happiness
The always the ever peaceful welela posted recently a simple and yet Philosophical blog that got me thinking !It shook me into asking
"do we have the Idea of the concept laid down the forward thinking Founders of the America all wrong."
Do You think the "Pursuit of happiness" is just an illusion. And what exactly does this simple yet very potent statement mean. ?
Perhaps it is misunderstanding this very concept that has broken the American dream, and crumbled the pillars of modern society
in America and the country’s that follow her torch of liberty. Our youngest and best hope for modern ethics in political affect. Our guiding light in the new world.
And by this I mean are we looking to hard.
Have we lost sight of the very concept. Is it lost in the competition of collecting specimens of materialistic representations of the joys of Life. ?
Surly the Pursuit of Happiness should be just that.
A pursuit, and not the struggle we have come to know it as.
Has it become a Struggle for most because a small number have proven so good in the competition, that they have accumulated the representational happiness of others.
Have a small number proven so manipulative in the race, that they have persuaded you that buying into their agenda of Happiness will ensure Yours.
Perhaps we can see if we look closely enough not only is it easy to lie about who you are in life and on the web but it is also easy to lie about who others say they claim to be. To omit a line or two when quoting, is one trick used to remove substance from a statement. To devolve the character of a peer all you need do is simply to allow them to speak and then apply your own interpretation for others to hear. It seems Modern politics Journalism and business are all perched on the soap box of happiness leaving little room in our hearts and minds to here and process our own intuition on how to secure the freedom of Joy.. How do you Judge what is true ?
Part of the Answer lies in a concept of blogs by the very articulate aRrAe.
It is an essential part of everyone's Journey to know thyself and know thyself Well. Even if it means you get lost now and again. Don't all good adventures begin when possible hero's fall somewhat from their safety zone.
Like LouLou said in one of her blogs does it matter who else believes in your vision.
Is it so important that you should shake the ground of both foundations. So they too can share your opinion.
Do you really need the consent of others to be happy. Does the very act of seeking consent or support weaken the proof of your self contentment.
Think hard on this as once the cracks appear you may spend a life time repairing them. You may even lose yourself in them.
To sum up my words to you my friends. I put it that the pursuit of happiness is not an illusion nor is it a struggle it is in fact a greatly misused and very often abused and oppressed responsibility. It is up to each one of us as responsible Individuals to ensure that no only do we have the right to Pursue Our Idea of Happiness but more so to use this responsibility to ensure that nobody else is deprived of their pursuit.

When she presented the conundrum;
“What constitute a good society?” it was going around my mind like a broken record until Welela posted her blog.
And your comment is good too
Just kidding.
Is that a true story.
Im going to google it to make sure.
you are a dangerous man. anyway, this came to my mind after reading your post
"If you want to understand a society, take a good look at the drugs it uses. And what can this tell you about American culture? Well, look at the drugs we use. Except for pharmaceutical poison, there are essentially only two drugs that Western civilization tolerates: Caffeine from Monday to Friday to energize you enough to make you a productive member of society, and alcohol from Friday to Monday to keep you too stupid to figure out the prison that you are living in.”? Bill Hicks
Happiness,liberty,- do we have really? Journey, Struggle - as we don't build our own dreams- "to ensure that nobody else is deprived of their pursuit." - we end up working for someone to build theirs...And you forgot the third drug used by society. Religion
Happiness and liberty, I think we could have if we stopped buying in..
Is their a key to the cage, I hope so.
but i agree with you. religion is the 3rd one.... btw, Aristotle sends you a high five.
only my view
Perhaps the pursuit of happiness is unobtainable...overuse of this term or misundertanding of the underlying meaning of these words...Canada has a similar concept of rights...life, liberty and the security of a person...what does this mean?...is it the ability to live life with a sense of security or safety and the ability to achieve what you want without hinderance, the goal being happy?...this for some is unobtainable...the restrictions or limitations set by society...discrimination of certain peoples in the past or present...despite people's distain for how others live or disagreement of what is considered a good life... it is a responsibility of all citizens to ensure others' rights or vision of happiness are not deprived or suppressed...to ensure our own happiness...
go to Bhutan with me and Molly.
aristotle onassis
I totally agree with your view.
Funny all the same that
the restrictions or limitations supposedly set by society. are actually set by those who we elevate to positions which they obviously see as being above society. In a game that is rigged we fight each other and never raise our heads to see the dice throwers.
High Ten
They are securing their own happiness at the expense of others...but we let them...ugh...
In Indonesia before reformation on 1998 we live under rules of our government even the media, let's say it like dictator, so when you see some people in here look like live on wealthy actually they didn't cos its only fake as government create .... then when the reformation happen much of indonesian people living below the poverty line, which mean they happiness live create by our government just by statistic not by the fact
I once heard someone say, We live in a rotten system and the more it rots the more it thrives.
I can not remember the source as they were unfamiliar to me.
But words that stuck with me al the same..
Unhappiness appears to.be the potential outcome.
One of the last isolated tribes in the Amazon were called the happy people, why, because there were no sick, or afflicted or old people there. At around 35yo they took a poison went into the jungle and died, hence preserving their environment.
How can people be happy with the pressures put on the earth for our exsistance.
More technology does it equal more leisure time and happiness?
Look at what we're doing right now
I seen a guy the other day with a bar-code tattoo on his neck.
rebellious statement or programmed preparation
I hear you on that one and agree 100%.
While there is some politeness here there seems to be a lot more unhappiness because of there expectations.
Thanks for the input.
Yes of course it is the right of every human being.
I used a term in the blog summation "Responsible individuals". I believe if the pursuit is taken under these terms everyone can have a fair whack at it.
But perhaps that is just foolishness and hazy dreaming.
"I appear to upset some, disappoint others and the humour gets lost somewhere around the equator."
I wouldn't expect anything else from an Australian.
As for the bar-code tats I'm truly lost.
This is your Blog
ok, back to my real blog
where the fluk is it no worries, I jst open a new beer and its right there
it's not so complicated. Happiness is a slice of chocolate bundt cake with chocolate chip ice cream on top. Yeah!
left, right, left, right, left
put your feet up.
Do you want fries with that
make it a happy meal.
dont sneak up like that
life is Kool, we're just part of it for a short time
And on top of that, I think the cost of finding, let alone having happiness is staggering these days..
What about Oprah's 35G Hermes bag? Or 1o karat diamond? Or 50 million dollars home? Are those by equation measure to a true happiness? I don't know my dear Non...
Ah well...

I do think everyone has the right to pursue happiness. However, that might be more difficult to obtain than one would think. According to Eckhart Tolle, the very same thing that makes us happy one day, may very well make us unhappy the next day. I think somebody said this before, maybe happiness is elusive and does not really exist? I say, maybe happiness can exist within many different things?
As far as your question regarding consent from others to be happy. It is human nature to be socially accepted and to have a partner. One can think that having a social circle and a partner can lead to happiness. So, yes. In this instance, one may need consent from others to be happy.
