Unanswered question.

Whilst trying to keep up to date on current blogs it came to me that the bloggers are basically split into two totally opposed groups, however I think we can all agree the question we all want an answer to is -

Does the Mauve Elephant keep dancing even when you move on to another blog confused dunno word has it that despite the fact it always appears to be dancing when you look at it that it does in fact stop for a fag break when you're not professor

I didn't know that, but that is a horrifying animal. but I am now substantially less confused. thanks. what are we talking about?

Z cheers wave
lindsy, taking your last point first, I'm not convinced we shouldn't ever alienate anyone here, there have been occasions on here where a members views are so extreme that it can't be avoided imo, but I take the point that it should be avoided where possible.
It's interesting you should mention religion as this is one subject where I don't believe you can sit on the fence, by the nature of the subject you either believe or you don't but yes I think a lot avoid those blogs so as not to inflame the already heated discussions, I suppose a comparison can be drawn to this blog in that it would be quite hard to prove one way or the other that the elephant dances even when not being viewed, if you take a scientific approach then you'll come up with one answer & if not you might arrive at the converse view.
But I think there are times that if you hold strong views on any subject you have to take the bull by the horns & speak up, otherwise those with the loudest voice will be heard regardless of how weak their argument, this applies equally on both sides & is I feel why the discussions can get quite heated. wine
Bog, glad you're less confused, how did you arrive there laugh rolling on the floor laughing beer
i have no idea... sue me!laugh

You are very right Z and thank you so much for your detailed response.

On the case of the religion, or gospel, presentation for that matter, I do see more bystanders, as opposed to those who actually participate. Same people on the insistence of who and what is in our belief. Yes, it is hard to reason out belief and or faith. After all, it is a very personal one, and I myself based my belief on a God, that is all too powerful and all too forgiving and all too good. But not on the book that is written with so many flaws, per my ever questioning mind. After all there is no SPOKEN word that I know of, that Infallibly tell me that if I believe in HIM, that I should revere and or believe everything written in that book.

My take. MY STUDENT SAID ONCE: OH GOD IF THERE IS A GOD, BLESS MY SOUL IF I HAVE A SOUL.

Now from perspectives of belief, how can I explain this?

Sorry about the sideline Z

But a great blog to express ourselves without like walking in a land mine.

And yes, I agree on your observation of the extremes. I do and I believe I was at one time lost my finesse and I have learned. You see the effect of good learning Z?

Thank you again. Yes, we can and must try our best to not be enemies but friends and just plain professional and positive in our conduct. I would.
GG, free spirits, now there's something we could all use, if the elephant hasn't got there first uh oh wow laugh rolling on the floor laughing wine
Bog, I could foresee a problem getting a lawyer to explain dancing elephants to a judge doh laugh
I can’t see any evidence that the bloggers are split into two opposing groups, but I do see some bloggers have differences of opinion especially when it comes to religious blogs and I for one keep clear of them, because I have no interest in religion, so what could I contribute to a religious discussions? I have little knowledge of religion and I stick to what I know.

We don’t all have to all get and as long as we can diplomatically debate in a constructive way I see no problem with differing opinions on any subject matter, because it’s far more interesting than everyone agreeing on everything and nothing new being learnt in the process.

If I find a subject matter to be interesting to me I will participate on it no matter who the creator of the blog is and that’s evident by me commenting on this one.
I find it most disagreeable when people agree with my arguments.
So much so that I tend to end up agreeing with them. thumbs up

FOS, I've always though you & I read different blogs or at least see different things in the same blogs, like you I tend to stay away from religious blogs but also any blog that I consider to be preaching as I'm old enough to have made my mind up on most things & therefore don't need someone to tell me how to think. beer
Non, for sure the blogs would all be very short if everyone agreed all the time professor laugh
yes Z and we call that digression which most don't even realized sometimes including me because for one thing, we are peoples of many minds. Our diversified and multicultural environment coupled with our cultural and inherent genetic make up just make us bloom and understand differently sometimes.

I find it alright as long as it is not disrupting and or become so destructive on the original intent of the OP but that is where we come in, I guess to steer it back to where we want it to be.

I mentioned the religious stuff here not because of the the elephant, but I find that the reference you were into was of the heated and very sensitive discussions we witnessed the past few days.My humble opinion.

Thanks..and I appreciate really.
Lindsy, yes of course steering is important but I knew where this one was headed from the first idea, it is if you like an example of how that one subject can take hold of any blog, you don't need to look far on blogs today to see it in others, one as you say one both accepts & looks forward to blogs taking a natural path in different directions but maybe not always the same direction all the time.
Hi Z, wave the elephant looks like I feel, so I'll leave it at saying hi and heading to bed soon. bouquet
KN, laugh yes I know that feeling laugh rolling on the floor laughing wine
