Theist or Atheist. Do you know why?
Hello EveryoneI believe we have a desire to know God built into us. I wonder why we have this?
Could evolution explain it? Is there a benefit to survival that could have brought this desire into being?
Perhaps it just exists... without a cause and without a reason.

If you are a theist (religious), did you choose the religion yourself or did you follow your family or your culture?
If you are an atheist (not religious), did you choose this yourself or did you follow your family or culture in this belief?
**
I'm a theist ... I followed my family in my religion ... and now I'm learning why ... and making my own choice ... and I'm finding that my personality is leading me to remain in the faith/religion I grew up in; however, it's leading me to approach it differently than many in my family/culture.

There is no need to answer my questions. This is a very personal matter for many people.

I am curious about this last statement of yours. Do you think I am not positive because I choose not to believe?
I am also not agnostic, because that would indicate that the jury is still out for me. It is not as far as the Bible is concerned.
You mentioned something about insufficient evidence... "...a clear lack of evidence to substantiate any argument."
Not enough evidence to support theism...
I think our definitions are a little different... I think of being an atheist as someone with evidence for the non-existence of deity (something like, there is too much suffering, so a caring god must not exist). You didn't talk about this side of the topic, however... so I tried to figure it out... and you were kind enough to add a clarifying comment! Thank you.
Hi Richard! How is your day?
Thanks, Richard! I am leaving to Sollenau now!
Whether big or small I believe the effort is worth it.
"For the unexamined life is not worth living"- Socrates
I like to add that the unexamined faith is not worth believing. For a rational person needs evidence that something is true before they place their faith in it.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him (Hebrews 11:6).
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).
God bless, my friend!

IMO religion is nonsense, that is simply fact.
How can that be a fact, if it's based merely on your opinion? Is all truth relative to one's opinion?
God bless!
Eish Glatlol you have repeated this 10 times already, don't you think we know this by now...
Give it a break.
Oh btw thanks for posting it again :) someone might have missed it previously.
So your saying, that it's factually true, that what you think about religion, is solely based on your opinion? Thanks, I think I understand now.
God bless!
Wheres the joke in your post
Since you base what your saying, solely on your subjective opinion, then no one has to take what your saying to be objectively true, since you have "no objective bases," for saying that religion is nonsense.
God bless!
