What would you do?
I am on the most part a law abiding citizen. I am not ashamed to admit I am a Christian. As a matter of fact very proud to admit that with the highest of regards. I have seen post on here with point of view on different subject. So I ask what would you do?.... If you seen a homeless person who is digging through a dumpster looking for food? Would you run and get this person something to eat and bring it back to him/her as quickly as possible? Would you pick up your cell phone and call the police or run inside to turn the person in to the restaurant manager? If you clearly saw a disabled man/woman or child near starvation? What if the law tells you, you cant feed them? Would you feed them any way? Or would you turn a blind eye and go about your business? The reason I am asking this is because for the past few days My blood boils. In the United States there are over 30 townships who have passed ordinances that make it unlawful to feed the homeless in public! Fort Lauderdale for one. They arrested a elderly man who works with two priest to feed homeless as the see him. After the passing of this ordinance the three were warned not to feed the homeless as it encourages them to be homeless! The following day, they were back at it. They were told to drop the plates! When they did not comply, They arrested the old man (priest I do not know) and fined them $500.00. I am so angry over this! When I heard this I had to look it up myself in disbelief and most every newspaper covered this story, but the main stream media have not! Almost daily you hear about how the homeless are distracting the business districts with their presence in the area. These ordinances require a homeless to only eat from a shelter! Shelters can not sustain the amount of homeless and folks are turned away by the hundreds. So for Americans if it were a Vet? Would you deny him food in public? He fought for your freedom and rights? Regardless, we send food to countries who are starving for what ever reason, and it is call humanitarian aide. We do not require these other countries to be distributed in a control environment. Most are on the streets! How can a country/township be so heartless? I know I am rambling.. I have so much more to say.. Just need to share and get opinions. What would you do?

No I wouldn't turn away! How do I know this? Because that's what I do for them, when I have the money. And have even gave gas money to people that has ran outer gas. And a few people on the streets, that need bus fare or a pass to ride a bus.
And if I get charge for that! Then I just be charge for it. That's okay! At least I was just charged for doing something good, to help somebody.
Speaking of this law thing!
I guess! Those type of people, have never walked in those people shoes. Well! Not yet anyway. Who knows when, it will happen to them? tomorrow is another day!
Nice blog topic.....
It chaps my hide to see our government send billions of dollars to help under privileged countries while our own country makes laws to whip these homeless around like a bunch of dogs! Specifically the vets.
If the government really send that kind of money! They can say anything! That doesn't mean that it's true. A government is a government anywhere. All over the world. But! It doesn't mean that it's true, because they said it!
Angel:
I think your being a little too forgiving. The US Government gives, for example, Pakistan billions of dollars. I have a friend there that I communicate with. My friend knows we send foreign aid there and that ONLY the rich politicians get the money. The citizens grovel in poverty.
So forgive all you want but don't use blinders!
When I vote I will be speaking and meanwhile as a concerned citizen I will complain to my representatives!!!!
The good news is it is rare for them to be chased from the woods on foreclosed farms and we have lots of those. As long as they aren't busting into the house, what the bank doesn't know, the bank won't complain about and usually the sheriff leaves those tent cities in the woods alone.
Really the only reason you don't see soup kitchen lines miles long in America is because of the Food Stamp program. Sadly in some places, if you went to jail for drugs, even after you served your time and were released that State will not allow you to get food stamps. They can't get jobs that earn decent money because the aps always ask, have you ever been arrested? Yeah, 10 years ago you say. The company then says, Okay sorry, next applicant. It is like that for thousands both male and female. So, we have both homeless and hungry.
The other side of the story (and CNN after a week did cover it) is the interview with the Mayor. He is alleging there was a woman's center nearby and many homeless in that park. There were allegedly some incidents with women coming and going to the center and attendance dropped, so the town council passed an ordinance prohibiting the feeding of the homeless hoping the problem would go away so the center could resume operation.
