Aborigonal Population Of Canada
There is a great sadness that a northern community in Saskatchewan...(made up mostly of First Nations people) had a shooting incident today at the local high school...4 confirmed dead and 2 critically injured so far...why?...unlike San Bernadino...this was not a religious extremist attack...fortunately the suspect is in custody...Although the details are not reported on who was the attacker or why...living in the northern communities can be quite hard...but the aboriginal people itself have had many problems regarding health, employment, violence and discrimination...suicide is reported as a problem as well as drugs and alcohol abuse...
Here is a video clip of some stats about the current conditions/problems that many face in comparison to non-aboriginal people...

Here is another video clip...shocking...
Oxycontin is uncrushable...a good thing to do...so many abusing this drug...a horrible problem in Vancouver...
When you get typical street drugs, most of the times its cut down with something and you rarely get the full quality thing. With prescriptions, your getting top quality 100% pure product every time. People are going to get hooked on this by the droves and its very hard to get off of.
Malaysia is not exempted too!
If you look at the stats from the original blog clip...it appears we Canadians need to hear the plight of the First Nations people...no doubt it happens everywhere but Canada has wealth that needs to disperse to these Aboriginals...
It is a shame our former PM did nothing...
of Syrian refugees. Our own people, the real truly Canadians,
live in squalor, but we provide for 25,000 people from across
the globe as a result of their own civil war. Does not make
sense. Alas this problem was here long before. Our current
government is going to tackle more than previous administrations
and that is positive start. So sad.
(Certainly NOT Tylenol! Wrecks more livers than booze!)
Not on any prescription meds...
puts me in about 10% of my age group.
It's claimed 75% of Mur'kuns take a prescription drug(s) on a regular basis.
40% of those drugs have psych effects/side effects.
'Thus, 'bout 1/3 of Mur'kuns are regularly taking something that affects their psyche.
Should something interrupt their supply...
A hundred million people Jonesin' harsh ain't gonna be a pretty sight!
If that don't scare hell outta ya...yer just not paying attention!
I knew an Eskimo woman back in Minnesota.
She HATED Winter & was always cold.
Seemed odd...I mean...you'd think that'd be like the Eskimo Riviera!
She surely didn't think so!
I am hopeful that our new PM will effect change in our First Nations health and welfare...
Our history not unlike yours is filled with disputes and mistrust...colonization was not a good idea for Aboriginals...it harmed them deeply...hope we can correct the wrong and for the First Nations to finally heal...
It's not without problems, you understand, but it's REALLY reversed the fortunes of certain reservations.
Glad to hear you do not need prescriptions...nor Tylenol...I personally like Advil...sometimes I do ache from the work I do...but otherwise opiate naive...I like to change my eating habits or find foods that will aid in the problems not take pills...just a little wine from time to time...nothing wrong with a little vice...
Hope your not experiencing that blizzard...as many are being affected...
Have you ever tried turmeric, Lou?
Zyflamend is a softgel form. Works well.
You can get powdered turmeric at food co-ops/health food places.
Works well also, but doesn't last as long.
It's claimed turmeric is an anti inflammatory that rivals steroid stuff.
Never tried the steroids to compare, but I can believe it!
Proud to know you.
Well thanks for the compliment...some may see me as a socialist but I want all people to succeed if possible...create an environment of equality and do not hide from past mistakes...how else will we learn from them...again thank-you...
Glad to know you too and forgot to tell Pedal that I am glad to know him too...it is nice to know that distance does not separate our ideals...
You sure you're not getting any commission from Bell's ??
Thanks...
We have to have a balance of both...companies for profit and people looking out for the people or environments...a balance needs to take place...but what bothers me is that the Aboriginal people do not get a fair deal at the business end of it...so much poverty it seems like we are exploiting their naivety/kindness again...we need advocates for these people...including advocates for the environment concerning future projects...exploiting the environment and the people who live off it do not see the problems because they are so far removed from the situation...they do not live there or care about the people...
This is the problem with our current system, the people at the bottom barely can live while those on top live in total luxury.
There will always be some more well off than others but we need to correct the current system so that those on the bottom are not living in poverty. We also need society's general attitude to be less based on personal greed and looking at the good of our society as a whole.
Sorry, Lou...I get carried away sometimes.
It is all good...
Indeed it is, Lou.
We must all believe that improvements must be made...but the only sure way is voting for policy that will aid others or at least petition big companies that decide to ignore the have nots ...or the voiceless...our environment matters as well as the way of life that our ancestors practice...
Rich is getting richer and poor is getting poorer and more is getting poorer. People are unable to keep themselves alive now because of inflation and wages not going up to match it. If this trend continues, how many will it be in 10 years, 20 years, 50 years?
At some point, its going to reach a boiling point where a very noticeably portion of the population can't keep themselves alive and when enough people have got absolutely nothing to loose, something is going to happen and its not going to be pretty.
The way we live as it is now is unsustainable. Everything from our dependence on our resources to our greed for money and everything in between. We have to change or we are not going to survive.
Undoubtedly, it brings in needed revenue.
Of course, it also brings with it less desirable developments.
To some extant, it depends on how the tribal government - and individuals -handle and maintain control of it.
No simple answers, I guess.

To be honest,I left my self out from this Blog earlier, because I felt I can not bring out all what I have to say, there are so much already, that block itself and I feel only that I need to scream.
The only thing I want to say is,that the reason why a society have fell to the bottom of living,is almost always because their own culture has been taken from them.
A little correcting here,to show respects for the Inuits, they don't like to be called Eskimos, because it has come from outsiders and the word Inuit is part of their own Culture.
Rolf
In the case of the woman in Red Wing, she self-described as Eskimo.
What? I'M gonna argue with her?
While there was a Lakota reservation (and casino) near Red Wing, folks of her tribal affiliation were quite scarce.
I suspect she just went with Eskimo for convenience...
conversations going something like asking her if she's part of the local group.
Instead of saying, 'no - Aleut/Inuit', and then having to explain it, she just said 'Eskimo' and saved herself repeatedly going through an explanation.
Now that I think of it, I don't b'lieve I ever did find out anything more specific.
BTW - The Lakota, Ojibway, and Apache I've had opportunity to hang around with unanimously preferred their specific tribal name.
Beyond that, they were O.K. with 'Indian' and found 'Native American' kinda patronizing.
Again - What? I'M gonna argue with 'em?
That was some time ago.
Unsure how 'First National' might go over with 'em.
I'm of the same opinion as you, that she wanted to go the easy way, that's why she said Eskimo....I did a similar thing, when I had left Christianity behind, but still believed, that there had to be some higher Intelligence behind everything,so to get out from explaining,I simple said, that I'm an Atheist.

'First National' -
Sounds more like a bank than an ethnicity!

I knew a couple in a mixed marriage -
Swedish and Norwegian.
Once made the comment that I figured they were 'bout the same.
Some portion of my life was then spent learning (from BOTH of 'em!) why that simply isn't so! True story.
They didn't really convince me, but I've learned that if I might be addressing someone who may be one or the other, to use 'Scandinavian'.
Both seem to be pretty O.K. with that.
