Movie Review - Miss Conception
The other night I saw a true 'chick flick' with some redeeming qualities for men too. The most redeeming aspects are that it starred the very lovely Heather Graham and that it certainly had its comedic moments. You may remember Heather from 'Austin Powers; The Spy Who Shagged Me' or perhaps her very sexy role in 'Killing Me Softly'.In 'Miss Conception' Ms. Graham stars as a 30something single woman with her biological clock winding down loudly. Indeed, medical tests reveal that she only has one egg left and the next two weeks are her last chance to conceive. After that, she will likely NEVER experience motherhood. This leaves her exceedingly anxious to conceive. This is compounded because she had just thrown out her long term boyfriend, who coincidently just left the country with a beautiful assistant on a business trip.
Together with her best friends, they scheme to find suitable dates (a.k.a. sperm donors) to coincide with her potential ovulation times. However, the meetings with these men are comicly and progressively screwed up one after the other. For much of the movie the viewer is left to wonder whether she will achieve her goal to become pregnant and also whether she will eventually get back together with her ex-boyfriend.
It's a cute movie. I give it 5 stars out of a possible 10, which isn't bad. If you haven't already seen it, rent it for that rainy night.
