Oranges and lemons

Got home the other day from shopping to find a bag of lemons hanging on the door - they turned out to be from my new neighbours from Madrid, who own a holiday home here. There are 11 of them, and they are HUGE. (The lemons, not the neighbours)

My builder arrived today with a bulging bag of oranges. There must be 30 of them.

I don’t currently have a kitchen until said builder finishes strutting his stuff, which at this rate could be February or March, so making orange juice and lemonade is problematic.

Suggestions?

Elegs,

I can come over to visit you, we can peel the oranges or lemons, put them in a big half barrel or pan, and we can take off our shows, just gotta be careful for my corns and a little bit of toe fungus on my feet, but no matter.. We'll stomp on the oranges or lemons with our bare feet and make lemon or orange juice.

Cool idea, huh? And you can send bottles of it to all your CS friends. And by the way, all that citrus juice helps to smooth away any roughness, corns, callouses and fungus on the feet.

So, it's beneficial to us, the stompers, and to the drinkers.

You may even break into a whole market of a different kind of lemon-aid and orange juice. grin wine
oops, I meant:

put them in a big half barrel or pan, and we can take off our SHOES
I love love zumo Naranja!!! love
Hmmm, 23rd already, do you think if you hop a plane right NOW we can get the juice out by Christmas to our CS friends?

Well don't just stand there, lad, move move move move! We're on the clock here!
Mimi, you're on the crew. Lets go lets go lets GO laugh
Okay okay, I'm on my way. If an airplane can't get me there soon enough, then I'll take a cruise ship. Either way, I'll get there on time. See you there tomorrow or sooner. motorcycle
Got a good suggestion on Facebook, slice the lemons and freeze ready for those huge parties next summer. So that's sorted.

Just the oranges now and I'm about to squeeze myself a glass. Love those huge glasses in Mimi's photos!
I freeze sliced lemons ready for gin and tonic, so no ice needed and so it's not diluted.
I always have frozen limes in the freezer in case anybody needs an emergency mojito
Emmy, hadn't even thought of the cooling properties of frozen lemon slices, that's brilliant. Slicing will be happening today.

And when I looked, it turned out the oranges were in fact naartjies which I think most of you would know as mandarins, tangerines, clementines or satsumas - in fact who knew small easy-peel fruits of the citrus variety had so many names?? So I will peel and freeze in segments and fingers crossed.

Freezer, brace yourself for incoming
Molly, you are a regular boy scout, always prepared for any emergency rolling on the floor laughing
You can always re-gift your citrus to someone less fortunate.
...this is what I would do wink ....maybe it could be dunno a nice present to your neighbours by "Día de Reyes"

Stuck, the reason for the generosity is overflow, every tree in sight has either oranges, lemons, avos or olives laugh that's why the donors hang them on the door and sneak away rather than knocking and trying to force the homeowner to take them ...
Cach, ooh, I'll try that too, thanks. Anything has to be better than the smell of rubble and plaster rolling on the floor laughing and that looks a LOT better
Not starting a THIRD blog on one day but this link was interesting in that I really did instantly see one creature and several others saw another.

No-one has come forward to say they saw the others. There are quite a few in there. Could be interesting.

Biff, only one regret.....I didn't get the chance to try the mangoes there!

Wanted to buy them on several occasions but for some reason, I put it off until it was too late and it was time for us to leave Spain blues

Art honey.....you think we could visit Spain again so that your MiMi can taste them mangoes? batting batting batting
You don't have mangoes in Malaysia?? I mean er right you don't have mangoes in Malaysia and you should visit again, you haven't lived until you had a Spanish mango laugh

And I can teach you how to cut and eat them easily, there is a definite knack rolling on the floor laughing (I learned in SA but the skill should transfer smoothly)
Hello ,hug ( notice the hug, season of hugging, rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing ) As for the lemons and oranges, this is advice from someone who doesn t do any baking, myself I d pass most of them on to someone who does a lot of baking, hinting maybe they could return some of their fine baking in return for a thank you. And another alternitve is donating to those less fortunate ,it is the season for giving.
Oh Yes, Biff, Merry Christmas to you, santa waving
And to you hug kiss dancingsanta
